Question about Cisco 7940 IP Phone
A person left the company and did not leave their pin or password. I could not delete the messages via the browser interface so I deleted the mailbox. now the message light stays on and I cannot get it to shut off. There is another user on the phone who cannot tell if they have messages
I have found this on the cisco site.

Has this just stopped working, or has it never been working?
On the call manager / CME the MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) needs to be configured. This could be undertaken either via the GUI or from the CLI
For instance ...
and also mapped to each phone to enable MWI status
ephone-dn 1 dual-line
call-forward busy 800
call-forward noan 800 timeout 10
