Cannot connect to my wireless network

Hi, It's been three months and I cannot connect to my wireless network. The change happened when I went to my mom's house and tried to get onto her wireless network. Whatever I did, it didn't work there. I came home and tried to get onto my wireless network and nothing. I tried repairing the device and it says it can't finish because it can't connect to the network, contact my network administrator. I know the wireless is working from going to the configure address. I now have to plug my laptop into my wirless device with an ethernet cable in LAN1.  I have a Philipps ADSL multiservice modem/wireless router. My wireless card is whatever came in a Sony VAIO 2 years ago. HDAUDIO Soft V92 with IntelPro network adapters. There is security on my network, but that was never a problem before. Right now the network is mixed (11b +11g) and its on channel 10.

Had the same problem. Lost connectivity between my intel wireless 2200BG and a linksys WRT54G router and could not get it back. Always worked before. I tried all types of setting changes. Found this solution by googling my problem and within minutes I was back on line. Your solution worked! Thanks:)

Wireless card worked for months then all of a sudden the wireless won't recognize any wireless router. I switched to another card I know works but the same thing happens...nothing connects.

I see the network in my list, but it will not connect. "Windows in unable to connect to the selected netowrk. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh list of available networkds, and try to connect again." Problem just started yesterday. As far as I know nothing has changed. This is a desktop using a Wireless USB adapter.

My laptop cannot find my wireless network - it does not appear in the list. I cann connect to an unsecure neighbors network on both computers fine.

I have an HP laptop that used to be able to connect to my wireless network, all of a sudden it won't connect. Tried repairing device...which says that it could not connect to the IP address. Tried re-doing the settings on my router and still nothing. It is just really frustrating cause I used to be able to connect before.

Also, I have a smart phone with wireless internet on it and it gets on my network fine.

Is it some kind of a setting on my laptop?

You may have another wireless connection other than your own set as automatic, or more than one connection in your settings of the same name, so right click on your network icon in your task bar or in network connections in device manager and select view all wireless connections, click on it and when all the connections show, highlght, delete all of them, then close the window.

Your notebook should now indicate that it found new wireless connections, click on the popup and select your connection name and click connect, at this point you will be asked to enter the passkey if you have security enabled.

IT looks like it might not be accepting the type of security on the router..try changing the security typa it might work.
(P.S. YOu might need to re-connect all the wireless computers to the new network once you change the security.)

Hope this helped.

WG111 v2 cuts in and out of connection. says scanning for network address. has been working for three months. i have tried everything i know to fix it. thanks chris

Check the wireless access point you are using for problems. If someone bought the same brand near you then they may be using the same channel which would cause the problem you are describing. In that case change the WAP to use a different channel.

Good Luck!

Whilst online my connection went off using my belkin 54g, and wont let me connect again as it says, 'The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network'...Why...

That message means that your wireless security key has been changed to a different password. All you need to do is go to Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Network, then delete all the listed wireless profiles there. Now click on Add > Add a Network that is in range of the computer > Choose your network and connect. Make sure to type in a correct network key. That should do it.

Trouble getting my router to go to wireless

A few things to look at:

1) On the front of the router, is the wireless LED lit up?
2) If it is not then it is either disabled or dead. Connect the router to your pc by cable and in a browser window enter
3) At the login screen enter admin for the user and password for the password.
4) Once you are logged in, use the wizard to setup your wireless connection.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa

Acer with Windows Vista does not connect to Internet

You're laptop needs to have a profile for the router. Go to Network and Sharing Center, Manage Wireless Networks. Please remove all the listed networks there. Now click on Add, then Add a Network in Range of this Computer. Select the wireless name of your router and connect. If it asks for a network key, please type your wireless security key then connect. That should do it.
