Hi, I think I did something weird to my m3 player. When I turn it on, it doesn't go past the building of the libraries. I read somewhere on this site I should reformat it, but as it shuts down, it never appears on the desktop, so I don't know how to reformat it...
Is there a solution, better than send it to a repair center ?
First try to go through the iriver plus program and see if there's any tools that can help. or reformat through your computer!
try copying the system files onto something then delete all your media files usually the library is just too big....
i had this problem once and i removed the battery as it was loading and the next time i booted it, it worked =). (this is worst case scenario though, you might end up screwing up the battery)

i think you should try this...
if you dont already, download iriver plus 3
open iriver plus 3
plug in iviver
go to tools>Portable Device>Disk Initialization
this should format your iriver and replace all the original files
i reccomend only putting music, video, pictures and ebooks on via iriver plus 3
and also please make sure you safely remove the iriver each time you connect it to the computer
if you dont, there is a chance that you will screw your iriver, you may have heard of the "building library" problem, which nobody has found a solution for yet.
ive searched for hours, i couldnt find a solution..
but i will buy it off you for $30
..i like pulling things apart.. lol
anyway, if your interested, ill pay for postage too, contact me [email protected]
firstly reformat the x20 using the device itself...
after that install the iriver plus 3...
there should be something on the program to reinstall it...
i also think that on the disc that comes with the iriver, there is an install that might help...
otherwise try and reformat the comp
this problem seems to be common
it can happen if you dont safely remove the iriver from the computer
i havent found a fix for this problem anywhere
but ill purchace your iriver if you cant find a fix..
my contact is [email protected]
If your player freezes on "Building Library" (usually a result of putting certain type of .m3u playlists or too big images in id3 tag):
1. Turn the player off - you may need to take the battery out to do this. 2. Hold the menu button in. 3. Still holding the menu button in, press the power button. 4. Keep holding both buttons in until you get a dialogue asking if you want to format internal memory ... say yes. 5. Your internal memory will be formatted and you will now be able to start your X20.
Try to figure out what file is causing X20 to freeze - i've found that pretty much any .m3u file will make it freeze on building library ... only about 2-3 out of about 100 i've tried have worked.
