How to attach the upholstry cleaners

The hose hooks into the dirt bucket on the front where a clear plastic block sets. Put the hose in that slot and then hook the tube for the water at the top of the hood.

Without the exact Hoover model number, all I can do is give you this general reference:

This is a common problem for these units, and is easily fixed.

Bad connection:
You may need to push harder on the coupling when attaching it to the machine

A leaky Valve
Manytimes the Valve you connect to can bust or crack where you cannot see it.
Remove the hood and inspect valve. (six screws on underside)

Leaky hose
The hoses that run to the Valve you connect to can come loose or crack.
Remove the hood and inspect hoses. (six screws on underside)


This machine may be leaking the whole time you use it, and you my just not be noticing.
If you are in a northern climate, freezing machines in garages or cars is the most common cause.

I'm not quite sure where the attachment plugs in but, I did find an owner's manual for this Hoover online.

I have a model F6211. On mine you have to remove the hose caddy and the door is under it.

In front at the bottom thiers is a peice mine is square pull it up and out, now take the top of the tank lid off. now slide your upholstery attachment in that place where you pulled out the sqare. the open end facing up, now put the tank lid back on every thing should work .your welcome ttsgma01

I can not seem to get the attachment for the upholstery cleaner to operate what am i doing wrong????

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The attachment works on the suction from the Hoover Steam Vac and it’s either a straight suction tool or a revolving brush, check the front of the machine to see if the is a switch to turn on and odd, also before you attach the upholstery tool check the end of the hose for suction, it may be that your upholstery tool may be clogged or the brushes are not spinning and a part may be broken. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong.
