Used roper washer. worked fine one day, the next wouldn't fill with water. got the manchine to spin, begins filling for wash with correct water temp setting (cold/cold) then quits. Move temp control to next cold/cold setting begins to fill, then quits, move temp control to warm/cold, begins to fill with hot. Timer allows only beginning rinse cycle, quits then goes to spin cycle. Have replaced the timer unit already. Before I attempt to replace anything else, thought I'd ask for some help.
Check to hose to the water level control. It goes from the outside of the tub up to the control which is located in the same area as the timer. It's usually round with the end of that tube and at least 2 wires connected to it. Disconnect the hose and blow air through it. Reconnect and try again. Still no fill, try filling with that tube disconnected. Watch it the entire time as with the tube off the water should not stop. If it fills all the way with the tube off the water control unit has a problem.

Most washers have a small screen at the water inlet valve. They can be accessed simply by revoving the hose from the back side of the washer, using a small screw driver you can carefully remove the screens and clean them out under a faucet. That may be all that is wrong.

gabehart....sounds like belt is slipping. Replace it. The water pump is on a separate smaller motor so is not affected by the agitator/spin motor.
SOURCE: shutting down on rinse cycle
Hi this could means that you may need to replace the washing machine bearings. Once the bearings are bad, the motor overheats and it will automatically shut down after the first rinse.
