Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

MP 892 MP navigator cannot communicate with the printer or scanner

The printer prints with no problem, either wi-fi or USB connection but when I try to scan MP Navigator says it can't communicate with the scanner. I've deleted the old software and downloaded and installed the latest software/drivers from Canon but still no scanning. Error code lists as follows: Code5,156,61. Help!

Will not scan to my computer


What OS are you using? Did you install the full software (MP Navigator), not just the drivers? If you have the MP Navigator installed, how are you connecting to the computer? If you are using a USB cable, try a new cable, a different USB port and a direct connection if you are using a USB hub. (If you are using a USB print server, go to a direct connection to the computer.) If you are using the all-in-one over your network, try disabling your firewall temporarily. You may need to add a rule to the firewall to allow the scanner communication. (This will depend on the software/hardware firewall involved. Please add a comment with the details for support on adding rules.) The scanner requires bi-directional communication with the computer. This can fail even though the printer works. Make sure that the monitor program is running; this listens for button presses on the all-in-one.

Next open MP Navigator and try to start a scan from your computer. If you can't scan, then you should check for a communication issue, as described above. If the scan works from the software, then you probably don't have the destination buttons assigned in the software. Use the details from your initial scan to set the defaults. Go to Preferences and then the General tab. Adjust the details for the Scanner Button Settings. Click OK to save.

(one common issue for a USB connection is installing the OS default drivers by connecting the USB cable before installing the Canon software. If that is your issue, please uninstall the printer. Then with the USB cable disconnected, install the Canon software. Connect the USB cable when prompted to do so. The OS software usually only has a printer driver and thus will not allow the scanner to work.)

My Lexmark Platinum PRO905 does ot print it gives me the message " Communication Not Available, The Printer cannot communicate with the computer"


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if usb-connected), reboot your computer and unplug/replug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect the printer into the computer. Try to print again.

I can no get my printer to scan to my computer


Do you have the full software (MP Navigator) installed? Get that software here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp510#DriversAndSoftware and select your OS. Since the printer is a USB printer, is it directly connected and did you install the software before connecting the USB cable? If you didn't install the software before you connected the USB cable, uninstall the generic driver from the OS and remove the USB cable. Then install the software.

If the full software was installed before connecting the printer, try a new cable and a direct connection (instead of a print server or USB hub). Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and can fail when the printer works. Make sure the monitoring program is running before attempting to scan from the all-in-one.

Next try to scan from the computer first. There are buttons in the MP Navigator software that set the destination and default settings of the buttons on the all-in-one. After you scan at least one item, you will have a better idea of the settings that you need to use. See the MP Navigator help files for the details.

If you install the basic Canon driver, you will be able to scan but not from the unit directly. Windows XP and newer all come with Paint that can acquire scans (File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan). Windows Vista and Windows 7 have Windows Fax and Scan that can also scan files (New Scan). Photo Gallery in Windows Live (comes with Vista) also handles scanning.

The generic OS driver usually only runs the printer.

My dell inspiron 531 is not wi fi compatible how do I hook up my lexmark x4550 printer/scanner/copier to it


bring usb wi-fi from market it will turn your computer to wi-fi capable, other wise you need usb cable to connect printer with you laptop and drivers as well..

Canon pixma mp 190 won't scan / copy and printing works!


I also have a newly purchased MP 190 that prints but will not scan at all have also tried reinstalling software.
