How to associate the av sound with the HD video out

I have no sound when connecting sony ps3 to Philips 23" LCD TV 23PF532 on the HD source using an HDMI to DMI cable and have found that when i change the source to AV/SVHS, the sound from the ps3 can be heard. Is there some way that i could associate the sound from the av with the HD source?

I have exactly the same problem. The PS3 is splitting picture and audio as requested, but the TV cannot combine them, it seems. Is there a cabling solution (e.g., running the PS3's optical or other audio output to the dvi audio input of the TV)?

Bought a phillips 42" LCD TV hooked up the PS3 with the HDMI worked great for a while. One day the sound stopped transmitting. Disconnected the HDMI and hooked up the AV cables. PS3 work fine for a while. My husband tried to play army of 2and the sound quite working with the AV cables. PS3 work fine sound and all with the same AV cable on the old TV and the DVD player worked fine in the same AV ports on the Phillips tv. Called sony they said it was probably the exspensive HDMI cable that best buy sold us and that had harmed the TV. Called Phillips they sent me a jump drive to plug in to the TV to Update the TV. Sound worked fine after that. Then my husband tried to play Army of 2 and the sound stopped working again. Sony dosn't know, phillips doesn't know. Just plugged in the old HDMI cable. We have sound again although I don't know for how long. Does anyone have any idea. Could it be caused by the game? Is there another solution if it happens again. can I hook it up though a tuner?

It doesn't work. I have both HDMI cable connected to the Philips HD Ready, and red & white RCA cable for audio (both coming from PS3). But still no sound.
    Thanks for advice.

DVI connections do not carry sound. The only feasible way to get sound from the PS3 is through a standard twin phono-phono lead (red & white RCA)

I connected my dvd player to my coby hd tv, and the movie still want play, maybe I have it on the wrong chanel. What chanel should the hd tv be on?

Are you using a HDMI cable? Push the SOURCE button & select the corresponding HDMI input with the HDMI input from your DVD player. The HDMI inputs on the tv should be numbered & you can then select the correct number HDMI on the source screen. Good luck.

Connecting Ps3 with philips tv (full hd) when i got hd cable in, and click to switch so the ps3 uses hd to show things and i than switch over to the channel i plugin the hdmi cabel it gives blac kscreen

If it's the first time using your PS3, use the composite cables that came with it. Turn on the PS3 go to video settings and switch the input to HDMI. After you've switched to HDMI, turn the PS3 off and connect your HDMI cable, go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If this isn't the first time you've used HDMI for your PS3, make sure your T.V. is on the correct input. If the T.V. is on the correct input, try switching the HDMI cable to a different input. If that doesn't work try using a different HDMI cable, testing different HDMI connections if you're still getting the black screen. If none of those work then it's probably a problem with the PS3, but just to make sure try plugging something else with HDMI to see if that works. If another HDMI device works, then it's your PS3, if it doesn't then it could be a problem with your HDMI connections on the T.V.

make sure ur not using both the av cable and the hdmi on some models it causes conflict although they are on different inputs. also did you try using a blu ray player or another ps3 on that hdmi port using the same cables or different cables? if another equipment work/don't work u can at least start to narrow down your problem..

Dell w3000 & PS3

This may not be DVI issue.
I connected DVD player HDMI ----> DVI ( Dell W3000) LCD TV.
Later I found that Dell TV version of DVI does not support HDCP protocol ( High Definition Content Protection protocol). So I could not play HDMI to DVI movies from my DVD player instead I use Y Pb Pr -- this works ok.

Hope this helps... I am not use PS3 enforces HDCP - I assume Sony linked with Sony Pictures would enforce HDCP on HDMI cable.

LG 42LC2D-EC NO SOUND ON HDMI

your setting for source of the audio is probably defaulted back to original setting in receiver. reassign audio input and problem may go away. it sounds like its not in the tv. i assume you have a receiver and are not trying to listen with speakers in tv. is this correct? if you are not using an amplifier, you may need to go to the tv menu to make sure the audio source is selected as the hdmi input. should take a bit to read thru the manual, but it ought to show you how to accomplish the correct settings.
let me know if it does not.
good luck

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

Connect the PS3 to your TV with the hdmi cable and to the surround sound system with a digital optical cable, then set your PS3 to output sound through the optical port (through the sound options menu) and you're good to go!
