You need to have the fan switch adjusted.

Coleman furnaces us a temperature delay with a temperature on around 130F to 150F and off around 110F.

If the inrush of cold air cools the delay below the off temperature the fan will go off until the heater heats it up to the on temperature.

You have a dirty or bad heat sensor. When you remove the front panel on you furnace you will see a probe that is 2 or 3 inches long that is in the flame when the furnace fires up. If it doesn't detect a certain temperature within the first 30 or 40 seconds it shuts down the furnace. You can either clean the probe off with sandpaper, or purchase a new one. They aren't very expensive and are easy to replace. In my experience it is usually a build up of carbon on the sensor and a good cleaning with sandpaper and alcohol usually takes care of the problem.

I have a newer tappan heater and get 4 blinks on led for error code the unit starts up fine and has flame but flame goes off when blower kicks on

Problem: Your furnace will not ignite the gas to produce heat for your home. When a furnace has a bad ignitor what I see most of the time is the following sequence of operation:

1. Thermostat calls for heat. 2. Draft inducer motor starts. 3. Pressure switch attached by a small plastic or rubber tube senses the negative pressure produced by the draft inducer and closes. 4. Draft inducer runs for 30 seconds to a minute before you hear a gas hissing sound. The ignitor did not glow, the flame sensor (a small metal probe about 1/8" in diameter, with a white porcelain base) does not sense the flame, so after 8 to 10 seconds the hissing sounds stops with no ignition of gas to heat your home. Your furnace shuts down and goes into a lock out condition until you turn your power switch back off and on again. Then the sequence starts all over again with no ignition of the gas. Solution: You probably need to purchase and install a new ignitor. I would suggest that you inspect your ignitor closely for cracks. Make sure you do not touch the ignitor with your bare hands. If you do not visually see a crack, then you could have a furnace control board problem or a limit, rollout switch problem. The furnace's control board might not be supplying the voltage to the ignitor. If your furnace lights and the gas stays on for 8 to 10 seconds, then shuts right back off, then you need to clean your flame sensor with light sand paper or steel wool. You might need a new flame sensor, but most of the time they can be cleaned an will work well after cleaning.

Weatherking furnace is starting and stopping

This just sounds like a couple of problems. First, your blower is designed to only turn on once the heat exchanger heats up, so the flame will be on for a minute or two before the blower starts. it sounds like your blower is cooling down the heat exchanger too fast and causing it to shut off so it can warm up again...check blower speed for heat, it should be the lowest speed (black wire). Blue=medium speed, red= high speed. second problem could be your flame sensor rod is calcified, you just need to locate this and clean it off with some fine sand paper.it is located in the flames near the burners. Also change your filters, for proper air flow through your heat exchanger.

My Carrier 58WAV136 forced air heater's problem is as follows - Thermostat works fine, when desired temp is reached, the fan motor (blower) kicks on. Sometimes it stays blowing for a couple of seconds,...

There should be a code list inside the furnace panel access door. Find it and see what code 41 says, as I can't remember right off hand. Some of the possible causes could be air in gas line or low gas pressure. Could have blocked vent especialy if vented with plastic. Check for bird nest or dirt dobbers in vent. If vented with plastic could not have proper rise 1/4 per foot and have water trapped in pipe blocking vent. Is this a new problem or has this occured since installation?

Furnace runs OK, but blower runs again a few seconds later

Could be a defective thermostat in the plenum.
When a gas furnace shuts down the fan(blower) will run until the plenum cools to the safe range. Usually 1 and 1/2 minutes.
Intermittent operation is a defective thermostat or relay.

My Lennox Furnace starts and stops.

The reason why it stops and starts is that the sensor within the burner can not sense a flame in the furnace. The parts need to checked is the fuel filter, Air in the line, burnt out arcing rods or a bad ac high voltage transformer.
