Question about Gateway Profile 5 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Won't POST or power up

Now that Micron is dead and gone, Gateway no longer supports the Professional products. I just received a stripped Gateway Profile 6 (the previous department cannibalized the RAM and destroyed the HDD for 'security reasons'). the CPU is Pentium Duo chip. I need to reconfigure this beast but can't get it to POST. the power button does not light up. I've tried one 1GB stick of PC25300 and two 512 sticks of PC24300 with no luck -- just some coded flashes from the DVD drive. The drive will open and shut. I've tried a bootable Win XP CD with no luck. And I've verified the LCD with the DVI signal from another PC. Does anyone have the LED codes, or know the minimum memory configuration (can it fire on one stick, what's the spec?).

Strip it down further to find out the issue. Disconnect all HDs all CD ROMs and remove the memory. Leave the bare minium. Screen and board and see if it boots. If it boots add a memory stick then on next boot if its good add a HD and so on

I have a gateway zx6971 and it won't power up the power button doesn't even come on

gateway zx6971 go to gateway homepage for the manual and see if it shows how to rest it through a series of key boot sequences, check the front lights for battery, side by the adapter for power light and front light for the hdd. If none of these turn on your motherboard needs repair. first take a multimeter and check the plug end for 19v d/c. no power light at plug in side of computer means blown power supply on motherboard.

The radio has gone completely dead, no power going in. I have checked the plus fuse, changed the lead and used a different electric point but nothing has changed. Any ideas?

Hey there!
It seems the circuit cell has gone dead. Which caused it so 'suddenly' not work any longer. I suggest you get in contact with the customer care for the device and they can change the circuit board. Because if just one circuit is dead, the whole board is dead too.
I wish you all the best and if you need anymore assistance, feel free to reply back and contact me.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Is it possible to install Windows 2000 OS on a brand new hard drive in a Micron Millennia Computer that originally had Windows 98? Would there be anything on the motherboard that could prevent the...

Yes you would be able to install that OS on the system but the only thing you woudl have to look at is memory. professional version of 2000 requires 64MB of memory minimum and you need atleast a 10GB HDD. other than that, finding the dirvers may be a little hard these days and Windows 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft so you will not get any updates for the OS post Nov 06

My product Key on the bottom of my Gateway laptop doesn't work

The key on the bottom probably is labelled "Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" or "Microsoft Vista Home Premium", not "Microsoft Office Professional 2007". Look elsewhere for the key for Office.

Or, take "everything" back to the store that sold you the computer,
and get them to show you which key is which -- they took your money, and they "owe" you at least some "post-sales-support".

My Gateway FPD1950 Monitor Will Not Power Up After Being Moved

Here's a link to the HP support site for your monitor, where there are instructions for troubleshooting this problem. But check first to be sure you haven't inadvertently switched the power switch on the monitor off. Then try another power cable if you have one, try plugging directly into the wall instead of a power strip, etc. Jiggle the cable connection on the back of the monitor.
Here's another article that may help you to determine if the monitor has in fact gone bad.
I hope not, as I have the same monitor and have enjoyed it for its clarity and resolution...But I once had a power supply go out when I moved to a new room. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but it happens, I suppose.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Connecting power LED, reset, speaker, etc to micron atx motherbrd

Could it be that Micron no longer makes or supports motherboards? You could try a search on the model number, but also look closely at the board for markings for the connectors. When I can't find info I simply start with the power switch connector and use trial and error to get the rest connected and the right direction (an LED won't light if plugged in backwards) - also make sure your using the front panel header and not a USB header!

LCD screen went dead

The problem is a bad CCD inside the camera. I have 3 bad ones in my classroom. Sony was providing free service for some of their other models but failed to provide service (recall) on these models. I think it is important to contact Sony at 1-866-703-7669 and ask them why they are not providing support for this model since it has to do with a bad chip inside the camera. Sony should stand behind their consumer products and keep in mind that some people who use the consumer brands also use or recommend the professional brands to organizations like WEVA and others. If they do not support the consumer line products, will they support the more expensive industrial or professional products? Let's go Sony...fix these problems...there are too many of these cameras which have gone bad to say that it is not a CCD problem.
