If the laptop cannot detect the hard drive. This can be caused by a faulty disk controller, or a faulty disk drive.

1st. Reseat the hard drive and see if the laptop boots up.

2nd. Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.

3rd. If the BIOS can't detect the hard disk, the remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer detects this drive as an external disk drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive, then the hard drive is OK and the fault is in the laptop.

4th. If the hard drive cannot be detected then the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace the faulty hard drive in your laptop and install Windows to get an operating laptop again.

MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I Disable the "SECURITY FREEZE LOCK" on my hitachi HTS54503289a300, 320 GB sata hard Drive? originally WAS INTALLED IN MY ACER TRAVELMATE LAPTOP NANUFACTURED IN 2012 BUT THE LAP

Maybe if you can format the disk-but you loose data, maybe there is a program that can do it, probably in linux, or bootable itself, maybe ask acer for master password or something, if you still own original laptop and it runs then try to remove disk encryption while the hdd is accessible with laptop (i think its in bios), otherwise the hdd may be unusable to prevent data theft. you can plug any sata hdd into any sata device if you can hook all the cables, no compatibility issues there. try googling and youtubing for more answers

Hi I have an Acer Travelmate 6492 first I wanted to reset it to factory settings I could not manage that & now it is not booting it's just flashing on top

Hi,
Seems like your hard disk is not getting detected.
Press the power button and hold it down for 20 seconds(without the battery or adapter plugged in to it). This process is called POWER DRAIN.
Start tapping the DEL key as soon as you power on the computer.
This will take you to the BIOS screen.
If it doesn't, you will have to check whether your hard disk is faulty with a local technician.

Once you get in to the BIOS screen, press F9 to load the default settings.
Than press F10 to save and exit.
Once you do this, the computer will restart.

Hope this helps.

HOW CAN I RESTORE MY ACER TRAVELMATE 2200 without the original disk??????????????? NOW CAN U ANSWER THAT...ASAP

Hello !

Note: the recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook.

You can try ALT+F10 or CTRL+F10 during the initial boot cycle. This should prompt the laptop to access the recovery partition on the hard drive.

If it doesn't work :

Activate BIOS Setup Utility, press <F2> during POST.

Check the BIOS settings.

a Check to see if "Acer disc-to-disc" function is enabled or not.
b Make sure the [Acer D2D Recovery] setting in [Main] is
[Enabled].
c Exit the BIOS Setup Utility and save changes. The system will
reboot.

Hope this helps.

Acer travelmate 4000 hardisk problem

If the hard drive doesn't show up in BIOS either the drive is new to the unit, drive has failed or the motherboard may have a failed IDE/SATA.

If it's a new drive you're trying, go into bios and disable Fast/Quick Post/Boot from bios and restart the computer it should find it. If not either try a new drive you know works in the laptop or your drive in a laptop you know works and we'll figure it out from there.

Try these steps and let me know how it works out, if you can't get it narrowed down I'll offer a few more suggestions.

Black Screen

Check you BIOS settings and make sure that the hard drive is recognized in the BIOS. Also try clicking on reconfigure hardware settings and save and restart the PC. You might need to do a clean installation of the OS and this will require that you have a Windows Operating System Installation disk.

Acer will not start travelmate 4000 series

does it pass the BIOS tests ?! if so, than u have to boot with a bootable cd to install the OS (new hard drive)

if it does not pass the BIOS tests, or gives errors, try reseting the BIOS, set it to the default settings ...

u can also recheck all connections (cdrom, mems, hard ....) and if the batteries pins have a good connection when pluged in the laptop...

give more details of what is wrong with it ... does the screen even get a image on it ... !?
