Question about Vivitar Vivicam 5388 Digital Camera

The lens will not come out

I have a vivitar vivicam 6388s when i press the power button the screen lights up for a second then goes off but the lens does not come out

Hi there.
Face the camera towards the floor and firmly tap the back of the camera while turning it on, this should hopefully free the lens so it can open, make sure that the batteries are fully charged or at least new.

How do you turn the flash on? (with the vivitar vivicam 8018)

Your camera has a built in flash function which enables you to take photos when the light condition is not good.

1. Press the Up button. (for reference of buttons, please see the below figure mentioned)
2. Press the Up button once until you see the icon appear on the LCD screen. This indicates that the flash is forced on.
3. Press the Up button again to change to the auto flash function.
4. The icon will appear at the top of the LCD indicating that the auto flash is turned on and ready to use.
5. Press the Up button again to change from the auto flash to the red eye function.
6. The icon will appear on the LCD indicating that the red eye reduction function has been activated.
7. To turn off the flash function, press the Up button again until the icon is displayed on the LCD.

Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please change new batteries

Et blue screen and message msdc on screen. cant get anything else. Will not turn on and screen goes off if unpluged. Have charged for 3 days. Vivitar Thanks

msdc stands for mass storage device. Try removing the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

Hi Dear,

This issue is not with the battery. This is due to the misalignment of the camera lens. This is a delicate hardware problem. Hence,i would suggest you to take it to some professional or your authorized service center and get it repaired there only. Trying to repair it on your own might make the situation worse and would cost a lot money.

Vivitat vivicam 8300. turns on but no clear screen

vivitar vivicam 8300s lens does not come out when turned on. I also get an ERROR 2 message. Please help. I am only able to view pictures.

you could try 2 things..
check the configuration if its been changed.. the best thing you could try is do a factory reset... there must be an option to set your camera to default values..
the other thing is cleaning the lens with something really smooth, otherwise you could scratch the lens..

Won't properly switch on.

info from vivitar themselves, apparently this is an internal software problem and my camera has to be reutrned

i have had the same problem too, have you got ALL the equipment still in a box, because if so (if you have had the camera less than a year) u can report to the vivitar contact thing because that's what i had to do write back

I have the same camera, but not the error message. My lens occasionally will get "stuck" out. I have found that removing the battery for a few minutes then re-installing it will "reset" the camera and the lens will retract when the power button is pressed. This "fix" does not always work.
A call to Vivitar only results in the suggestion that you send it in for repair.
