Need the change the driver's side actuator. Is this a repair I can do myself?
I'm assuming it's the door lock you're talking about. Yes you can do it. You need some tools. Hate to say it, but I've worked on so many cars & trucks I forget exactly what you'll need. 17 years of this & you can't remember all, lol. Well anyway, you need to remove the door panel . Put the window in the up positon. I forget if they were riveted in or bolted. If bolted they will be Torx, readily available tools are at most auto parts stores, sears, etc If riveted, then that maybe an issue. You need a drill,a punch that fits inside the center of the rivet,a hammer,& for re-install a hand riveter & rivets. To change the bolted kind, simply have the window up & door panel off, take the clip off the actuator rod, & I find it easier to unbolt the thing, then remove the wires. If it's riveted, take the punch & knock the center out . Drill the rivet out with a bit that is about twice the size of the hole in the rivet. You may need to wiggle the bit around until the rivet pops out. Install the new actuator using the new rivets & tool. You maybe able to simply use bolts instead, depending on clearance. Now it's up to you if you want to do it. I think you can!
