SOURCE: Water Dispensor leak on Whirlpool Refridgerator

The solenoid valve needs replacing, located at the back of the refrigerator. If you have well water you will need to install a filter on the supply line.

SOURCE: ED2KVEXVL Whirlpool refridgerator - not cooling in refridgerator

Tip: Most self-defrosting household refrigerators that loose part or all of their cooling in the freezer or fridge are having problems with the self-defrost system. Three components to check: defrost timer; defrost heater elements (esp. on side x side units); and evaporator fan. All cold air is normally produced in the freezer, then circulated via evaporator fan to the refrigerator section. About every 12 hrs. a defrost timer turns off the compressor, and turns on the defrost elements to melt the frost from the evaporator coils. This normally takes about 20 minutes to complete, then the timer turns off the heaters, and restores normal cooling operations. If the cycle does not complete properly, the coils will "ice up", restricting proper air circulation through the freezer and refrigerator sections. Worse yet is if timer sticks in defrost mode (rare), it will turn the freezer into an oven. If the defrost system seems to be working normally, then you should check the condensing coils for excess dirt, and vacuum &/or bush the dirt and lint out to restore proper head disipation. It's recommended that you vacuum out a condensor that's located on the bottom of the unit once a year. You should also check the condensor fan (if present) for proper operation. If the condensor fan fails, heat can not be properly released from the condensor, and will cause the refrigerator to 'run all the time' yet not cool efficiently. There are many things to check on modern frost-free refrigerators, before turning to the actual sealed refrigeration system and compressor unit.

SOURCE: whirlpool refridgerator is leaking water on the freezer side

WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.

Water leaks

Need more information
Does the refridgerator have plumbing for water/ ice? Is the water connected? Check that fittings are tight and not leaking.

How old is your machine? Older refridgerator have a drip pan in order to be frost free. Drip pan could be not in correctly or the hose from compressor is not flowing to drip pan.

Is the refridge level?

I have a 12 year old Whirlpool side-by-side refridgerator (ed20db) with water and ice dispenser. I have not used the water dispenser for years, but for some reason when I hit the lever yesterday, it did...

you have a possible water valve that is not shutting off all the way on the water dispensing side, it has 2 coils, one for ice and one for water. the other possibility is the dispenser tank is frozen, from being too cold in the refr. section and thats causing water pressure to continue running even when not pushing the lever. let the unit warm up slighty on the refr side and see if you can get water to flow properly.
if not working after warming up, then you might have to replace the water inlet valve.
