That is definitely a very good guess. There are other possibilities (bad motor, etc) but that is the most likely by far.

Bottom wheel of water pump wont turn, burning belt

The wheel could be stuck but you need to have the water drained out and a mixture of antifreeze to water added to it. Be sure to keep in mind the heater core also has fluid in it and you could damage that also.

Hearter core

If you look down by the gas pedal you will see two tubes coming out of the heater box, that is where the heater core is. To replace the heater core you need to disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core in the engine compartment. Then remove the gas pedal from the floor, and disconnect the brake booster rod from the brake pedal. Next you will need to disconnect the shaft going to the bottom of the steering column. (Make sure not to turn the steering wheel while the column is disconnected or you may damage the clock spring). After all of that is disconnected you will have to remove a cover for the heater core tubes. Then remove the tubes from the heater core. There are a couple of screws that hold the core in. Remove those screws and the heater core will slide out of the heater box.
This is not as difficult as it sounds. Just make sure and not turn the steering wheel, and top off the coolant when you get done.
Good Luck.
