Cannot engage parking brake on John Deere L108 mower. Clutch and foot brake work fine. Cannot lift orange lever to set. What can I do? Thanks

If new to the unit...

To set parking brake, you FULLY depress and hold the brake/clutch pedal, engage and hold park brake lock, release brake/clutch pedal. You may need to adjust seat forward.

Else...
If the brake lock won't move when brake/clutch is fully depressed, check for obstruction in brake lock linkage.

Your belt is worn out or broken. Also check drive pulleys for wear and grooving. Good luck Friend.

We have F725 John Deere Lawn Mower and when we engage the blades it kills the engine. We have replaced clutch but did fix problem

Check the blade brake to make sure that it releases fully.good luck

drive belt loose
wheel bearing
cutter blades shaft bearing/ s seized up from rust hand brake stuck on and not releasing

Does the John Deere LX172 mower have an electric clutch and if so how do I operate it. I can't get my tractor to move.

Hi Bill, you electric clutch only engages your pto. The clutch for the Transmission just releases tension on an idler for the drive belt. Do you still have spring resistance on the clutch pedal?

you have a safty switch problem you have 4 to 6 switchs the easest way to test them ,startin with the seat get a ohms metter they are open or noramly closed

I have a John Deere LT 133 lawn mower, when I release the clutch/brake pedal the motor will will not continue to run.

There will be a faulty safety switch somewhere. Most likely the one on the seat. Regards Phil

Dies when clutch disengaged

It sounds like the seat switch is disconnected or failed. Check it out. If it thinks there is no **** on the seat it will cause your symptoms.

It could be that the belt jumped off the pulleys and got caught between a pulley and a belt guide,or the trans-axel seized up ,or brake was stuck while in a high gear,and burned up the belt. most likely the first reason. if it wasn't for the burning rubber smell,I would also look for a broken clutch/brake return spring .The pedal would stay down with a broken spring
