fell over and now no power. Can't find the fuse. Is there one? And if so, where is it located? The grills are on fine.

Ionic breeze gp s1730 I had the same issue. There are two switches in this unit. One closes if the back cover is on, the other closes when the removeable grid is in. My problem was with the later. Mine had corroded wire ends where it is soldered to the small circuit board where the switch is attached to. It also had a bad switch that did not close the circuit and I suspect internal corrosion as well.

Unplug the unit and remove the grid.

Remove the 4 small phillps screws from the front grill, remove front grill.

Remove 2 selector whells from top, remove four screws.

Test the switch function with ohm meter

This goes along with ted-qcom's solution posted Jan. 19, 2008. My Ionic Breeze GP had the same problem. It was the switch in the front that detects when the collector grid is in place.

I found a suitable replacement switch at Mouser Electronics, mouser.com. It is Mouser part # 101-1203-EV. The problem is that the lever is too long, so I cut it with my Dremel cutting wheel before installing.

Mouser also has a similar switch, part # 101-1201-EV on which the lever is the correct length, however it has solder lugs instead of PC board legs.

I ordered both switches and then made my decision about which to use after looking at them. The choices are either cut (shorten) the lever on the 1203 switch or enlarge the holes on the mounting board to fit the 1201 switch. In my judgement it was easier to cut the lever.

The new switch is installed and the unit is working fine again.

$1.24 + shipping for the switch.

Dean,

I have a Ionic Breeze GP Professional that did the same thing. I bought two of them that were factory serviced. One of them did that and I completely took it appart and cleaned it out like new. I even unscrewed the bottom and looked for a fuse. I did not want to break the casing so I couldn't tell. But once I put it back together and plugged it in, it worked fine. I do have a problem with the other one though. It doesn't work and the cleaning overdue light wont go out. I hope you have good luck with yours.

I have a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze GP S1730 the inside wire broke on. Does anyone know how to repair it????

One person used piano wire, but the diameter must be right so the cleaning beads can slide up and down on the wire when the unit is turned up and down.

Red light comes on after cleaning S1730 GP Sharper Image

Make sure filter is positioned correctly and fully seated.

If it does not come on with a clean dry filter it may be a faulty high voltage component.

Installation is easy, you just pull up on the tab on the bottom of the filter and pull up. When you are looking at the bulb, turn it 1/4 turn, (2 clicks) and pull it out. That is all there is to it.
