Black rectangle on screen on some stations

I get a black triangle on the screen on some stations. It is not all the time. I am hooked to cable not thru a box. The cable company tells me it is a setting on the tv. Help. I can not figure it out.

I get an intermittant black rectangle on the lower half of my screen some of the time. I get rid of it by pressing menu but it "sometimes" comes back quickly and other times may take days to come back

I noticed a black rectangle on certain channels; the next day my picture was totally inverted on all channels. luckily I can turn the TV over but guess that there is a better solution.

I have an SVA 20" that is getting a dark rectangle box in the middle of the screen. The borders are OK just the center of the screen. Any Ideas?

I also have a black rectangle showing up in the center of the picture. Shows on more then one station and it comes and goes but stays on enough to be very irritating and it blocks about 30% of the picture.

It has something to do with the closed captioning.  Try gonig to the cc option and see if you can turn it off.

Finding the square metre of an area which has uneven sides: e.g Long side = 6.5 metres, angled side 2.4 metres, short side 4.5 metres and across the width is 1.9 metres please

Break it up into two figures, one a rectangle and the other a triangle.

Area of the rectangle is length times width.

Area of the triangle is base times height divided by 2.

Good luck,

TV is about 1 year old. Started yesterday having a black rectangle in the middle of the screen. Can press any button and it goes away but come's back in just a few seconds. Tv is a Element ELCHS321

most times a black rectangle pops up when closed captioning is on. sometimes there will be gibberish in it sometimes not. See if you have button on remote labeled "CC" . Also if you have a cable or sat box make sure closed captioning is switched off there too.

How do i find area of a rectangle that has 1 straight side and the other is a triangle its irregular plz keep it simple / -------------I /-------------I

You shape is a rectangle and a right angled triangle. You need to divide it into the rectangle and the right angled triangle and add the areas.
Area of a rectangle is length * width
Then just add the two together.

Black Rectangles on 42" Vizio HDTV LCD

Your DirecTV signal is probably too low. That would produce the small black rectangles (pixilation). Also, try replacing the cable you are using to get the signal from the DirecTV receiver.

Black Rectangle blocks TV screen

Ok, your only problem is that you have the close caption on. You also have it in text mode. That is why you get that black box. Just go into the menu and turn the close caption off.

best regards
