Richmond water heater

I have a Richmond gas water heater that is only a year or so old. I have not water in the tank but can only get hot water to our kitchen sink and intermittently to the bathroom sink. None to the bath tub.. It started where we had rust build up in the valve of the tub that wasn't allowing e ought hot water to mix with the cold. Fixed that & it was working fine. Then all of a sudden no hot water at all to bathtub, or bathroom sink. Then it was intermittent for bathroom sink and kitchen. Now just kitchen. Any ideas?

The water inlet to the heater must be plugged.

SOURCE: No water pressure in bath tub after turning off hot water heater

It could be back flowing into the hot water heater tank which is not full because of the leak. Even though the valve is closed on the cold water entry side, there is probably no valve on the exit side. That is how it is returning to the tank.

I have a recently installed richmond water heater. When the shower is running and someone turns the faucet on in the kitchen the water gets drastically colder in the shower. We didnt have that problem with...

Which type Richmond water heater?
Is this a tankless water heater or tank-type?

Tankless are notorious for 'cold water sandwich' under exact conditions you describe. You might need tankless with larger BTU burner.
Don't install a tankless.

If you have tank-type water heater, then I suspect a clog in the hot water line, or single-handle faucet cartridge in show is going bad.
Same problems can contribute to tankless problems.
