Cd won't play, have to pry cd door open - Philco (R) 841.205 CD Shelf System

You probably have a broken belt on the cd tray so it's neither open or closed, if the laser's ok thats why it wont play

if it opens back up when you close it the drawer mechanism is probably out of alignment. Most players have a slot on the bottom of the drawer that a pin must slide in. Look under the drawer and see if there is a pin sticking up that maybe should be in that slot.

It won't play for one of two reasons:
1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing.
2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.

if its a 2010 on no spring, they have two useless little bits of plastic that depress and go flat from the heat and then dont pop the door , another way to ripp us off !

This is a loader mechanisn fault. Mithe be eiter to a loose loding belt, or defective loading gear wheels.

Your unit needs a little TLC. Let me address the likely problems/solutions:

1) Tape deck stuck - The most common problem here is that the belt has gotten slippery. This has prevented the mechanism from resetting to a known position and that is what prevents the door from opening. Hopefully when you pried it open, nothing bot broken.

2) Both tape drives run from the same motor and use different belts. The same applies to the second deck as the first. The belts are sliping and need to be replaced.

3) The CD lens is probably dirty and needs to be cleaned. The fact that the CD stops and an attempt is made to play it suggests that the optics are working enough to detect the disc. Clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol and that should resoplve the CD problem.

If you have not opened up these before, I would not suggest you start without someone around who has. There are 3 belts that need to be chagned for the cassette section to work. Plan on $15-$20 for the belts.

There are 3 to 4 scews you need to find near the door handle and armrest. these are usually under plastic covers. Remove them then start prying the door panel near the bottom to locate the push pins that are spaced around to hold teh panel in place and pry them up.

hello i have had the same problem with my 5 cd changer,i way i solved this was to turn the player top slide down then do this care fully ,shake it gently and see if a cd came out of it, groove sit in the player.if you hear a rattle than there is a stray cd in the device. you have got to shake the cd to the front of the cd dawer to take it out with a thin ruler or a butter knife but be care ful with the knife preess on the open button wale trying to slide the butter knife between the stuck cd and the inside of the cd sit cation be care.
