The "black screen of *****" is usually very easy to repair on a laptop. First turn your computer off by pressing and holding down the start button. Next unplug the computer and then remove the battery. Press and hold down the start button for about 60 seconds. Release the button and plug in the computer. Press the start button and the display should return. Replace the battery. If this does not work, try it again up to four times. No results usually indicates a bad mother board.
If that doesn't fix it, it may be the power adapter that lights the screen.
Have you tried plugging in an external monitor to the graphics port?
This would get you going again and would help reduce the possibilities of what is wrong.
You turned on your laptop and horrors upon horrors, the
screen is BLACK! You see that the laptop has power but besides that nothing is
happening.
I want you to know that there is a very good chance you can
get out of this situation quickly and without any cost. This fix works on all
brands of laptops:
• 1) TAKE OUT YOUR LAPTOP BATTERY
• 2) REMOVE YOUR AC ADAPTOR CORD, that's the wall power, remove it.
• 3) NOW HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS
That will drain any static electricity that has built up on
your laptop system board and many times fixes the problem of a black screen.
After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall
power and hit the power button normally and see if the laptop comes back up.
Replace your battery.
or if wont start
Here are the fix steps:
1. Turn off your computer
2. Disconnect every wire from it
(including power)
3. Disconnect the battery from
the bottom of the computer.
There will be two tabs labeled 1
and 2.
4. Re-plug in the power wire.
(the battery should not be in the computer)
5. Turn on the power. The screen
will work. Choose start windows normally. (if you get that screen)
6. Go to Control Panel ->
(Mobile PC) -> Power Options -> Under Balanced choose change plan
settings
7. Choose Change advanced power
settings
8. Find Processor power
management and change the minimum processor state from 5% to 100% for each On
battery and Plugged in.
9. Click Apply then OK
10. Shut down you computer.
11. Disconnect the power cord.
12. Re-install the battery on
the bottom of the laptop, plug in the power cord, and restart the computer.
Just to be clear this is not a fix for screen problems, this is a
fix for a problem that prevents the laptop from booting at all. The
laptop would not even attempt a POST and so would not even get as far as
trying to output anything to the display.
I'm no expert but just wanted to share a fix that worked for me.
For me it was a problem with the laptop not coming out of hibernation
properly and completely freezing, the only option was to power off. On
reboot nothing would happen, the screen would not even be initialised so
it is nothing to do with the screen.
I can only theorise what the problem may be. As the solution is to
remove the power lead, remove the battery and hold down the power button
it would seem to be an issue with the laptop retaining some residual
charge which is preventing the laptop from booting. I've heard of other
poeple who have managed to fix this by simply letting the battery run
out and then leave it overnight, this will again dissipate any residual
charge but is just a much slower way of doing it. Holding the power
button down with no power sources attached will dissipate this charge
and allow the laptop to boot when a power source is reattached.
Unfortunately if the laptop boots and the screen is blank then it is
a different issue, if the image on the screen is faint it is most
likely a problem with the backlight and in these instances this fix will
not work. Before posting this I thought this was an isolated incident
but there have been so many replies it would appear to be a more common
issue than I thought and works on many different models, not just the
DV6599 that I've tried it on

Dear friend you mention long beeps/few times beeps.
Its mean its RAM problem, Remove the ram from the ram slot & clean it by napkin & use a brash for cleaning ram slot. Then fix it back again. After that power on the laptop & see what's going. If the same sound again , that's mean the ram not working, its damaged. So buy/ arrange a working ram and fix it on the slot. Now power on and run the laptop for work.
Thanks & waiting for your reply.
Check Acer's website for a BIOS update. I've seen a LOT of laptop's screen issues been related to the power saving settings in the BIOS. Sometimes screens going black very fast and not working properly can be caused by that.
The Power Inverter could also be the problem which you wouldn't be able to repair yourself. If you purchased it at Best Buy you can take it to them and they could get that fixed for you (at a charge if there is no warranty with that).
