My Dell A920 All-in-one suffers from cartridge stall. Cartridge moves across its area in a second not stopping to leave any mark on the paper. Occasionally if I press a button on the panel a sheet of blank paper is delivered please solve

lift the printer and shake to check if it sounds like a piece broken inside.. turn the printer off take the power brick out from the back.. manually pull the cartridge to extreme right then center.. check if cartridge is aligned correctly.. if nothing of this works.. contact dell for replacement under warranty.. if out of warranty.. inkjet printers cannot be repaired if broken.. u can buy a dell v313 of same quality for $59 with warranty..
I have run across several Dell & Lexmark printers that after a while of working great, decide to have an "issue"... If you are printing more than 1 page, they will print the first page, then stop. The computer says "Cartridge Stall" and the printer says "Hardware Error 0502" or something similar, depending on the printer... Anyway, the message on the computer suggests making sure your cartridges are installed correctly, and nothing is blocking their path... After dealing with this many times, I have finally found a solution that seems to work!
There is usually a metal bar that the cartridges slide back and forth on... over time, this bar can become "gunked up"... Use alcohol pads to clean up the bar, and the surrounding area.... Clean out as much of the track as you can also. Tada... .No more cartridge stall!!
I HAD the same problem, but not anymore!! I just opened the top to expose the "inside of the printeri" and checked the long clear band at the rear behind the print head. Make sure that the clear ribbon is NOT TWISTED. There is a small metal bar with a small extended part on the far left interior of the printer. Just make sure that the slot on the clear band is fitted on that extended part. This will put the print head back "on track" This worked for me!!
Initially, check/clean the encoder strip. This would be the long narrow plastic strip with barcode like markings. Ensure that it is clean, no smudges, ink marks or any paper debris that may obstruct a light sensor passing through it other than the barcode like markings.

1. Did you insert correct the cartridge in the holder?
2. Check if the contacts are clean in the cartridge holder, maybe something is ther and the needle-type contacts from the printer does not push right on the cartridge contacts.
If you don't use the color on a fairly regular basis (once a day), the
cartridge tends to dry out and plug up. You can try and wipe the
cartridge outlets with a damp cloth or even use a little alcohol, and
run the cleaning feature several times, but may well have to just
replace the cartridge.
Hi. The flashing code signifies that there is a fault with the connection between the ink cartridge and the printer - usually because either the tape is still on the cartridge or maybe some glue from the tape still on the contacts. In my case, I think the cartridge was simply knackered, so I threw it away and opened yet another ink cartridge. It now works fine.
If you want to test yours, simply take out both ink cartridges, and re-insert them one at a time. If you've put a working cartridge in the flashing will stop; if you've put the dodgy one in it'll still flash. Just replace the dodgy one.
I REPLACED THE DELL INK JET CARTRDGE.TAKING THE OLD OUT.AND SNAPPING THE NEW BACK IN.THE BLACK AND COLORED NAME PLATE FACING ME.AND WHEN I HIT PRINT.A SIGN COMES UP.SAYING CARTRDGE STALL.WHAT DO I DO TO GET IT TO WORK.
