SOURCE: how to clear the memory key on Texas instrument

Hello,
Your calculator has 3 memories (M1, M2,M3)
To store the number 170 in M1 use 170[STO]1
To recall a number from M1 use [RCL]1
To add a number to the content of M1 [2nd][SUM]1 (adds displayed value to contents of M1).
[2nd][EXC] 2 exchanges the value already displayed with the contents of M2:

To erase (clear) a memory register, just store 0 in it.

Hope it helps.

Ti 5006II frozen

I had the same problem. Solved it by pressing the D/# key (just below 5/4 key) and then pressed the P/NP key (not sure if I pressed them at the same time).
Also pressed the D/# key and 5/4 key.
In my case, the screen showed an 'E' lower left of screen, and the 'Print' and '5/4' at the top of the screen.
Hope this helps.

It has a large E on the lower left side of the window and it will not allow entry of numbers, like if the power was off. It will only print a zero when I press the ON/C button. No other key except the...

Try clearing the memory with the MRC button a couple of times, then the ON/C. You can view and download the operators manual at: http://education.ti.com/guidebooks/printer/5006ii/5006ii.pdf
Also, disconnect the power and remove batteries for a minute. Check batteries to make sure they are good then replug in.

Good Luck.

CANT GET THE M OFF

The "M" simply indicates that you have a value stored in memory. To clear the memory, press the MRC key twice.

Error message

I fixed this exact problem on my TI-5006 II calculator by simply replacing a "dead" battery. Three of the four battery's were good (after cleaning their terminals) but the fourth was completely bad (i.e. read "Replace" on my Battery Tester). Other problems probably can cause this exact same error message but this cure was simple and cheap. The problem first appeared after the calculator was dropped. A sudden shock (dropping it) can cause even a good battery to fail.

Calculator

yes it can be repair but better in service center because it needs special skill in soldering and in electronic troubleshooting.
