Well the first thing to do is try to isolate the problem. Before we start make sure the 1st PC will give the same network cable unplugged error if it too is unplugged. Once that is done start by unplugging the network cables from the PCs and switch them. Does the problem stay with the 2nd PC or does it move to the 1st? If it stays with the 2nd PC then the problem is with the PC network card or more likely its configuration. The network card should be configured exactly as the 1st one, probably to obtain the IP and DNS addresses automatically. If you need help with this let us know the operating system you are using. If the problem moves to the 1st PC that indicates the problem is with the cable and/or the router. Now switch the cables at the router end, if the problem stays on the 1st PC then that network cable is your problem. It could be a ?cross-over cable or simply damaged. If it doesn?t move then the problem would be in your router. Either that router port is bad (try using another port) or the one port that works is configured uniquely. You?ll need to take a look at how your router ports are configured and look for the differences. Let us know what you find and we?ll go from there.

Most likely the connection inside your new gateway is bad - you should return it under warranty & get a new one.

Have you tried a different cable?

You do not need the manual or CD

1. Turn off both the linksys and your modem
2. Turn on your and wait for the usual lights to turn solid
3. Turn on the Linksys and wait 30 secs
4. Press the button on the front to the left. It does not look like a button but flashes while it is finding an ip address
5. now connect with an Ethernet Network Cable and make sure the internet is working
6. Next Setup the Wireless Encryption, if you don't know how to do this, post and I will help
7. Disconnect the cable and Connect Wirelessly

Check for the pins inside the integrated NIC to check if the pins are bent / disfigured. Does not look like the additional card is making any different, looks more like a moving NIC cable is makin the difference.

You need to update the firmware of the router then hard reset it.

Download the router's firmware at www.linksys.com/download

After updating the firmware, you need to hard reset the router.

Press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 30 secs then plug it back in. That should fix it.

Try these steps:

1. Make sure the wireless is disabled when you're doing that. It might cause a confusion between the wired and wireless connection.
2. Try to plug it at other ports (1-4)
3. Try another known working ethernet or CAT-5 cable.
4. Set the laptop's LAN card's speed to 10-hald duplex.

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
