I need to unblock the channel manager from a hitachi hdtv

You Dont need one your set is HD. So when the switch happens you are good to go. The only TVs that are going to need converter boxes is those who do not have HD or only have antenna.

I assume you are using a Comcast HD cable box ..... that's the only way you will be able to view HDTV. You do not need a Hitachi HDTV tuner.

Do you have the tuner locked out for use of HDMI input only?
Most of the time when a selection is not able to be hi-lited it is
because a feature that is activated locks out other selections.

If you have not tried it: UNPLUG THE SET FOR A WHILE then plug b a c k and see if helped-----what can happen if power outage is microprocessor in set gets confused.

I just set it up (it is used) and I can't get to the "Channel Manager" in the setup menu, as it is grayed out. I can't auto program because of my inability to access this menu function.
Hi,
Channel menu will be grayed out if tv is set on AV Input, select TV source by remote or press any channel number to set tv on tv source, this will enable channel manager/ menu to tune channels in tv.

Digital Channels??
Direct from the Hitachi website - "Integrated HDTV Tuners: Hitachi's new top-of-the-line XWX series features built-in ATSC terrestrial and cable HDTV tuners to provide integrated high resolution, high-definition signal decoding." You will need a seperate HDTV tuner if you do not have cable or satellite and want to watch off-air High Definition channels.

ON THE FRONT YOU SHOULD SEE A LITTLE MENU BUTTON HIT THAT AND YOU SHOULD THEN SEE THE MENU COME UP THEN GO TO CHANNEL MANAGER FROM THERE YOU SHOULD THEN BE ABLE TO UNBLOCK A CHANNLE

Have you checked your aerial is connected? It may be necessary to do a manual re-scan. Make sure you choose the option to 'replace' current channels.
