You will probably find a free manual at the Sharp website. That should answer most of your problems. However can tell you that PDC stands for Programme Delivery Control. With it on, say you want to record a program that starts at 9pm and finishes at 10pm. Then all you need is set the control to on, when you set the timer recording, and the video will record your show, even if it starts at say 9.10 and runs while 10.10. The VCR will wait till 9.10 to start and stop at 10.10. Good if a sporting event or live event overruns!
However PDC doesn't work on digital and will not work sometimes at all or if you set the timer wrong. It uses the old teletext signal, which is why if you are in an area that has gone over to digital it should be set to off! As it will never get a PDC signal!!!!
Some DVD recorders / players work on different format disks
Some will only work with R+ (or RW+)
Others will only work with R- (or RW-)
some will work with both + and - formats.
Check your user manuals for both machines - they may not be compatible at all.
You need to select channel 3 or 4 on your VCR! , or line-in if you connected through the (yellow/ white/ red) cable "better video quiality!" and selct the channel you want to record on your DTV box, not the VCR!
i have uploaded the user manual for this model, it should be visible within the next 24 hours. the quick version is this:
if you haven't done so yet, set the clock menu/ use up/down arrows to select "clock set", press right arrow to select, set day, year, etc using up and down arrows, when each is set, the right arrow moves you to the next bit
once clock is set
timer recording menu use up and down arrows to scroll to timer recording, and press the right arrow to select set the program number (1-8) set frequency (once, daily, weekly) set the date to record set start time (i usually go 5 mins prior) set end time (i usually go 5 mins after) set channel number set tape speed exit by pressing clear/c reset press t-set to activate the timer
the timer rec light should come on, the timer recording will not be active unless you press the t-set button
when you set the timer you need to ok the settings of the programme you record then you need to switch the video off on the controll as it will only record in standby mode cus if the video is switched on it will wait for you to tell it to record hope this helps
