My refrigerator is on but nothing is very cold. The coils on the back are not hot either. It's plugged in and is humming.
Just had a similar problem, but it was caused by the fan that takes cold air from the freezer and blows it down into the fridge section. It had fallen out of its frame and the weight of dropping unplugged it from its power source. The freezer was real cold, but the fridge was practically room temperature and the compressor was running continuously as the thermostat is in the fridge section that is getting no cold air. Apparently this is a known issue with these...according to the service tech. He repaired the fan, but suggested that we get a spare fan and frame for this Haier as the frame was showing signs of rust.

Check to see if the compressor is running in a cycle. if the compressor is not cycling, you will need to replace the compressor and fan.
if the compressor is humming, it because of a faulty motor and relay(start device). replace the compressor unit in this case.
Hi,
In the back you will hear the hum from the compressor and the black can will be warm to very wrm...becarful when touching as you could burn yourself...small pipe from the can will be hot and the bigger pipe codl if working properly...
Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.
