Can my child play a game on the game pad if nothing appears on the television screen? Also, my son does have cable on his television does that have anything to do with it?

You should make sure your disks are not scratched. To turn the wii off (without unplugging and all that).....Just hold the power button for a while on the counsle until it shuts off. Just out of curiousity.......and maybe a thing.........because this happened to me.........it froze because i entered a cheat and skipped to much in the game, but when i went back and did it the real way, it didn't freeze.

lol funny situation now maybe you should get either 2 very thin peices of wire or something sort of solid and fish it out or unscrew your console and if there are wires hanging from bits just dont touch them and keep unscrewing and remember were you took the things out from then when you get to the cd slot take the ds card out and that should work good luck

You need a Game Cube memory card to save Game Cube Data, it goes in on the left side of the Wii near the back by where controller 1 plugs in.
SOURCE: can the wii be connected with hdmi cable
As was said, there is no HDMI cable for the Wii. An HDMI cable would be a waste on the Wii, considering the Wii can't ouput 5.1 sound, and can't output 1080P (those are the main benefits with an HDMI cable).
The highest qaulity cable for the Wii is a component cable, which will allow you to output the Wii in 480p (progressive scan) vs 480i (integrated scan). All HDTV's have component inputs, so this is a non issue. Component cables actually can output 720p/1080i, but the Wii can only output 480p max.
Here is a link to the cable I am taking about. You should be able to get it from somewhere for the $20 range.

Last time I had this I had to change the motherboard, tried for hours to find the fault. motherboards are about £50 if you have to resort to it. Make sure you are buying an original nintendo and not a copy
