Sorry, there isn't a way to get past the password other than to contact Lenovo. Resetting the CMOS will do nothing. They will ask for proof of ownership before they do anything. I believe they have a "backdoor" password.

You method is used to remove the BIOS password, not Windows log on screen password.

You can create a Windows password reset bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive to reset forgotten Windows password, i have created a bootable USB flash drive with the tool Windows Password Breaker and reset my administrator password successfully. You can have a try.

Toshiba satelite bios password recovery

On laptops there isn't an easy way to recover passwords in the BIOS. Sometimes you can reset the password. Other times, you'll have to contact the manufacturer to get it reset.

Some laptops will allow you to reset the BIOS password by pulling the CMOS battery. The CMOS battery is typically located under one of the bottom panels for access to the memory or wireless cards. Some models have the CMOS battery connected by a small wire with a clip connector, others have the CMOS battery placed directly on the motherboard with a metal retainer clip.

Here is a link to a removable CMOS battery with wires: http://www.laptopparts101.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/removable-cmos-battery-560x420.jpg

Here is a link to a CMOS battery that is directly on the motherboard: http://www.laptopparts101.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/coin-cmos-battery-560x420.jpg

On a laptop, if you unplug the power cord, remove the laptop main battery and then remove the CMOS battery - and then wait at least 5 minutes, some models will blank out the BIOS password. Not every BIOS password can be erased by removing the CMOS battery - but if you are comfortable working on the laptop parts it is worth a try.

If removing the CMOS battery doesn't fix the BIOS password, the only option left is to contact the manufacturer for a reset. (If you took your laptop to a certified technician - they would just contact the manufacturer for the reset, and then bill the time to you!)

The number to contact Toshiba is 1-800-457-7777.

How to reset or remove BIOS password

There are four common categories of solutions to remove or reset a BIOS password and here are the details on how to go about resetting your BIOS password.

Manufacturer Backdoor BIOS Password

Most of the BIOS makers have set a backdoor password on the older computer models. That is the master password for BIOS. To reset BIOS passwords first you need to check the manufacturer of your computer's BIOS. Most computers have BIOS include AMI, IBM, Award, and Phoenix. These are the most common BIOS. You can unlock your locked BIOS using this master password. It works, no matter what the user sets the password to. Many popular computer and laptop manufacturers such as HP and DELL lock the BIOS because they want to protect their machine's most sensitive areas (those areas which have warranty) from their customers. These passwords are usually used by computer technicians for testing and repairing.

Reset the jumper that holds the password

Open the computer and locate on the motherboard the BIOS password jumper. The jumper is usually jumper 1 and often labeled as PSWD, PWD, CLRPWD, CLEAR, JCMOS1, CLR, CLEAR CMOS, PASSWD, or PASSWORD. Normally you would have 3 pins and to reset the password you just need to put the jumper on the 2 and 3 pins leaving pin 1 empty. After you move the jumper, turn the computer on to clear the password, then once password removed turn it off and put the jumper back to its original position.

Removing the CMOS Battery to reset the BIOS to default

Switch off your computer, and open up the case. You'll see a circular metallic silver item on motherboard. This is called CMOS Battery. Remove it carefully, and leave it out for about 2 minutes. This act will remove the CMOS memory which contains BIOS password. Set the CMOS battery back and switch on the computer. Restore the CMOS configuration as default. Your BIOS password has been cleared now.

Using third party software utility to reset BIOS password

To reset BIOS you can use third party software like Kill CMOS which wipes out CMOS, or CmosPwd which is a BIOS utility. Hiren's Boot CD has a few programs including the above two that will help you to reset the password. Here is a link to Hirens Boot CD website http://www.hirensbootcd.org/. To download the latest version, click on the Download link on the left side and go to the last page. You will need a CD writer to put the content on a blank CD.

How do i remove bios password

There are many known ways to reset / remove / bypass the password:

* By removing the CMOS battery
* By using the motherboard jumper
* By using MS DOS command
* By using software
* By using Backdoor BIOS password
Almost all motherboards use a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.
