Question about Element Electronics Televison & Video
When hooking up my children's TVA yesterday we had no problem with our son's The tv scanned an d found the channel it needed to be on in order for him to watch tv. We have dish. The children share a receiver. It is in our daughter's room. When getting her TV set up, the tv never would find the channel when it was scanning. Not sure why her tv would not recognize the channel while scanning. Not sure what to do.

Make sure the cable connection from the dish to the tv is
connected to the antenna/cable input and not the digital
input. Turn on the satellite receiver then auto program the
set with the receiver still on. If this fails to lock in channel
3 your suspicion regarding a faulty tuner could be correct.
A good way to check the tuner operation would be to hook
up another product such as a VCR with the rear switch set
for channel 3 and see if you can receive a picture from this
device. If it works the tuner is OK.
You can bypass the tuner by connecting an S-Video cable
and (or) a set of A/V (yellow,red & white) cables from the
output of the satellite receiver to the video 1 input on the tv.
You'll then have to switch the tv source mode to video 1.

I should be channel 3 or 4. This assumes that this coax cable is coming out as a TV R.F. connection of a Dish Network Box (Satellite Receiver) intended for direct connection to an old fashioned NTSC (channels 2-13, 14-83, possibly even has cable channels depending on how old?) TV.
If this coax is the output of a coax going directly to the Satellite Dish or through what might might look to you like some kind of fancy splitter (called a Multi-Switch) the you WOULD NOT want to hook that to your old NTSC tv. The frequency is too high ... etc. etc... you would need Dish Box (as you call it) a.k.a. a Satellite receiver - with a good and active satellite card from your provider.

SOURCE: no channels found
you could try ant. on the tuner of the television and try to see if it grabs any channels on AIR ..if the scan goes all the way without finding any channels then the tuner of the television is not working. This means the mainboard will have to be exchange or repair..
This company called Amergence Technology is a 3rd party repair center and is able to offer repair services.. they could give you an idea on the repair cost and the process they have in place..

chances are that your reciever is outputting conventional NTSC .. not high def ... so you would scan for standard channels not hdtv .. if chanel selection is done by the satelite reciever then the scan will only find one channel 3 or 4 usually (or better yet you can use Svideo or component oututs if it has them .... if the receiver is a block converter that uses the tv to tune channels then you should get more channels detected ..

If you areusing a Coax Cable to connect the receiver to TV1, check the receiver'sback panel for the output name. If your receiver has a "TV CH 3/4Out" (non-ViP Receiver): Tune TV to channel 3 or channel 4, backif it is labeled "Home Distribution" (ViP Receiver): Tune TVto channel 62 or 75. If using non-Coax (RCA, Component, orHDMI) to connect receiver to TV1, cycle through the inputs until pictureappears; Most TVs have a "TV/Video", "Input", or"Source" button.
