Honda eu 6500 gen overload indicator light will not shut off
Brand new generator first day ran 6 hrs worked great ran skill saw and small compressor. Next day connected 18 volt cordless tool charger and also car battery charger at same time after 5 minutes power overload indicator came on and all power outlets quit working. I shut off machine disconnected everything but light stayed on. I waited a day tried again as soon as generator started overload light came on and no power available. Does anyone know how to reset power overload indicator without going to dealer. Generator is in a remote location.

something else besides the ac is stopping ( overloading) the genset
if it works well during the day, the compressor has to be working so the ac is not the problem
a 4000 watt gen set has a duty cycle load of around 3000 watts full time so any additional power requirement besides the ac will overload it
electric stoves , microwave ovens , hot water elements , anything that consumes power after dark will when combined with the ac will overload and shut down the gen-set
it seems to be the standard that the rating or model ??1000 or ??1500 or ??2500 or ??5000 or??5500 or ??6500 is the kv rating of the gen-set regardless of straight or inverter
so if yours is EF1000 it will be 1000 watts or 1 kv
remember that most electric drills are 1000 watt units so a unit this small is mostly good for lights, charging batteries, small compressors for tyres
Make sure it isn't trying to start the HVAC with a locked compressor (IE it just turned off and is now trying to cycle on again) If it is shutting down due to low freq there is too much load for the HP the engine can deliver. That will cause too much current to flow and trip the breaker. Also be aware it takes 6 times current to start HVAC than to run it. How old is the generator? it may have normal engine wear and can no longer generate HP, Also when was it tunes up
Connect the air compressor to house plug and check amp draw with tester. More than likely you will find that the initial start amp load is too great for the generator. Do not rely on the information stated on the compressor. Generators and air compressors do not get along. At our repair shop, we find that most contractor /construction type generators that were used for running air compressors had failed or leaking capacitors and were not producing correct amount of power. You could have gen set with weakened capacity and air compressor that is drawing more than stated on plate. Good luck
if by fliping the breaker it shuts off..that means there is a short circuiting in the breaker..try connecting your house,shop..etc..directly ...
that is if the shut off reason is overloading...if not please explaing with details
no reset but the frigs do have overload circuit that will shut compressor down, the frigs. compressors need a certain about of amps to start and to run ,what is the amp rating on your generator?let me know-mike
