Cannot locate original disc to re-install printer on pc

Recently had spyware on my pc. Had to take pc in to have professionaly removed from system. Was told I would have to re-install several things to my pc. Unable to find disc for my printer - can only find the disc for Macintosh. Is there any way that I can get help with this, without having to go and buy a new printer?

Hi,
You don't mention what make of printer you have but all of the major brand name printer manufacturers have software support for their printers available for free download from their respective websites. Browse to your printer manufacturer web page and look for a "Support" link which is usually where you will find your printer software.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

My acer laptop is running so slow

Hi oyinlag...
Do a disc clean-up of your hard drive...Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disc Clean-up
After the Disc clean-up of your hard drive do a Disc Defragment...Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disc Defragment
After that if it is still running slow then You are probably infected with spyware or a maybe a virus or Trojans.
Try this first...go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Restore...and restore your computer to a time when it was running fast.
If that doesn't work then I recommend that you download and install and run Microsoft Safey Scanner to remove the virus or other junk and spyware.
It is a free program with tech help via the web thru web chat. He can even take control of your computer and do the removal work for you if it is not removed by Microsoft Safety Scanner.

I am trying to get to an anti spyware website to download the spy ware to check my computer i can not get to the site although my main computer i can get to it, so i know it is up and working.

You likely have spyware which is blocking your ability to connect to a site that will help you remove it. A lot of todays Spyware and Malware is programmed to identify and block your attempts to remove it. Try downloading Microsoft's Security Essentials (free) or other free Spyware Removal program onto your main computer and saving it to a CDROM, Flash Drive or other media you can use to install and run the application on your infected PC. DO NOT DO A SYSTEM RESTORE. If the malware is blocking your ability to remove it, A system restore will likely not have any effect. Once you have been able to execute a removal software on your computer and have eliminated the threats, then only do a system restore if you have a restore point that you are certain is prior to when the infection occured.

Hope this helps FixYa. If you find this information helpful, please take a moment and leave us some positive feedback.

I have an HP Pavilion XP and at start up, I keep getting the message "R_CEngine.dat file does not exist" in a prompt box. How do I get rid of this?

sounds like you have downloaded some spyware or malware or you downloaded an unwanted program. if you cannot get rid of it, use system restore and that will remove it.

My system did an automatic update. Now I get a message that says that my backweb-137903.exe has been moved and so my HP center does not load. I looked for the file but it is not present on my PC. I also...

This error message probably occurred, because a spyware removal application incorrectly detected the Updates from HP Connections or Compaq Connections client software (developed by BackWeb Technologies), as spyware and improperly removed it. Since only part of the client software was removed, the errors displays because the software cannot fully open when Windows starts. Updates from HP or Compaq Connections is a messaging service that comes pre-installed on HP and Compaq desktop computers. The service provides product notices, support updates, tips, and special offers specifically for your model of HP or Compaq PC. If you no longer want to use Updates from HP or Compaq Connections, HP or Compaq Connections can be uninstalled through Add/Remove programs. If you still want to use HP or Compaq Connections to receive information regarding your PC, complete the following steps: CAUTION: Performing a System Recovery replaces system files and original software with the files that originally came with the PC. This process may move or remove certain files, like those stored in My Documents. Before performing a System Recovery backup important files and the files stored in the My Documents folder.Be prepared to reinstall software that was not originally included with the PC. You will also need to reconfigure an Internet Connection and obtain all critical Windows Updates, Virus definition updates, and anti-spyware updates. To resolve this error, reinstall the Updates from HP/Compaq Connections client software by performing a standard recovery:
  1. Remove all connections from the PC except keyboard, mouse, monitor and power cable. If any internal hardware such as a video card, or sound card has been added, they should be removed or disconnected.
  2. Restart the computer and press the F10 repeatedly after the logo screen appears.
  3. Click Next when prompted.
  4. Read and respond to the screens to recover the computer.
After the computer is recovered and you have completed the setup, you can do any of the following items to prevent the error message from displaying:
  • Adjust the settings in the spyware removal application to bypass the Updates from HP or Compaq Connections client software.
  • You can uninstall the Updates from HP or Compaq Connections client software before using your spyware removal application: Uninstall Updates from HP or Compaq Connections client software by clicking Start , Control Panel , Add/Remove Programs , Updates from HP/Compaq Connections , and clicking the Remove button. NOTE: If you remove the Updates from HP or Compaq Connections client software, you should visit the product support page for your PC model, HP Support and Drivers Search , for the latest information and software updates.
HP does not consider HP or Compaq Connections spyware software. If spyware removal software detects BackWeb as spyware and you would still like to remove HP or Compaq Connections, it should not be removed through the Spyware removal software. Instead, uninstall BackWeb using Add/Remove Programs as shown above.

Printer prints garbage

Did it ever work on new system or never has. Sound like either a software conflict or similar but most likely it doesn't like new machine specs. Have you made sure no other printer software is accidentally installed. Are specs for new system and printer compatable. Some manufacturers specify their machines specifically do not like certain OS's and specs. Because pc and software tech is going so fsat it is really hard for manufacturers to keep up, just as they run off their new printer, state of the art, microsoft brings out a new OS etc, and voila, a new updateddriver is needed. Have you considered it may be the pc causing the errors, ie the registry (from malware, spyware etc) not allowing proper installation. This can and does happen. Just last week, my friends printer was perfectly fine, she had some spyware and we had to edit the registry as it had corrpted where the printer was installed but also her cd rom drive icon and use were wiped out. Run antispyware virus and registry scans to eliminate these. Also try installing printer off a back up copy of the disc not original, good luck.
