Can't connect to internet since purchasing wrt100.

depends on how u r hooked to internet. direct thru cat5 cable to modem, or wirelessly thru router? then, you must make sure that your modem is connected to web? make sure modem is connected; plug in to desktop(off) then turn desktop on; go to start, then control panel, then Network and Internet; find out if you see a connection? if so, then right click on network connection, click on Troubleshoot Issues. this will try to resolve your internet connectivity. if you still cannot get online, call your internet provider for more specific steps in fixing.

to access page you need to connect it to a pc with an ethernet cable and in web browser address bar type 192.168.1.1 user and password is admin

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

Do you have the latest version of wrt? Even if you do, it may have flashed incorrectly. I would try loading it again.

Also verify that your machine can connect via another router. This will help to assign blame to router and you will have fewer issues to workout.

You could also try another software: dd-wrt for the router.

Has the adapter in the laptop been enabled?

Unless you are purchasing an old desktop PC, I am pretty sure any system you purchase these days (whether it's from Dell or whatever) have atleast an integrated LAN Rj45 connection on the motherboard.

The cheapest computer on dell.com (the Inspiron) has an integrated LAN connection for example.

Option1: Install both USB printers on the desktop computer, and then share them. Your laptops will be able to connect to them, but only when the desktop is turned on.

Option2: Buy a wireless print server, (Available from D-Link, LInksys, HP, etc) and use that to connect your USB printers wirelessly.

If you also want to wirelessly connect the desktop to your network, purchase either a USB, or PCI Wireless NIC for it.

Have you powercycled the modem, router in that order, before checking internet connectivity?

On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Network Connections > Right-click Wireless Network Connection, Properties > Internet Protocol TCP/IP, Properties > Select Obtain IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Automatically > Click OK all the way out.

The same happened to me, I just unplugged the router and plug it again, and i got internet access.
