Try recycling the power, Unplugg the power cord wait at least 2 mins ant then plug back in. Some times by turning it off an on rapidly will cause the microprocessor to lock up or freeze. Much like a computer does when you have to reboot it..
The answer is yes. I have the PT4799HD and the wii system and it works just fine. It is currently hooked up to the analog audio video input . But a HD cable is available for the wii as an accessory.
Try resoldering the pins on the ICs first. If that fails to resolve the problem, change the IC responsible for RED. You should be able to determine that from the service manual. In that area you should also see either fuses or low valued resistors that feed the STKs. Check those as well.
