You may do something check
1) enter bios setup check CD drive is detected or not.
if not detected, you may take out the drive clean the plug and socket then set it back properattely. still not detect in bios so you need change other drive or put your drive to other laptop to make sure whether the drive is ok.
if the bios detected CD drive, that is your OS system does not recognize the drive, you need check your syastem environment maybe some changed, so recovery previous system environment, or reinstall OS.
2) all deal nothing fixed(CD drive good) that is your CD drive interface hardwre problem on the motherbord IO controler logic.
you need find a technician fix it.
hope help you something fixed, please take a rating let me know how much helped you thanks! keep in touch your question

My dvd driver is playing hide & seek with me.one minute it there, then it just disappear.what can i do to get it back

Does it also disappears in your Device manager? If it also disappears in device manager this could be a driver issue or loose dvd drive. Try to update the driver for the DVD player or try to unseat and reseat the DVD player on the laptop.

System does not recognize CD/DVD Drive

The yellow triangle means there is no driver installed. There is 3 ways to get a driver. In most cases you right click on the hardware in Device Manager and download driver or reboot and Plug n Play should pick up driver automatically. If none of those work then the only option is to load it thru the add/removal in the control panel using the disc that accompanies the softeare.

My dvd rom drive won't read any disks

The yellow exclamation point in the device manager means there is a problem with the drive. It could something as simple as installing a driver for the drive or it could be that the drive is bad. Hope this helps & please rate my answer. Thanks.

About my dvd writer

The issue can be either with the Hardware or the software.

Make sure that this issue happens wiht all the CDs or DVDs you are using or able to used eariler.

First, check if the DVD Drive is listed in My Computer or not.

If yes, try uninstalling the DVD Drive from the Device manager by following the steps :

Right Click on My Computer and select Properties in the list.

Now go to Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.

Device Manager window opens in a seperate window.
Now click on the [+] mark next to DVD/CD Rom Drives to expand the tree.

Right click on the DVD Drive entry and select Uninstall.

Confirm if you get any message and close the Device Manager and restart the Notebook so that the DVD Drive Drivers will be reinstalled automatically.

Uninstalling DVD Drive Drivers in Vista :

Click on the Start Menu and type in Device Manager in the search field.

Click on the Device Manager from the results which will open the Device manager window.

Follow the same instructions to uinstall it.

If you find the yellow ! marks in the Device Manager, you may have to do some modifications in the Registry by following the instructions in the links below :

For XP :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

For Vista :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461/en-us

you may have either the Upper or Lower filter or both.

Delete both of them and restart the Notebook.

Finally, try removing and reseating the DVD Drive from the instructions available in the Manual in page number 135 of 310 :

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035657.pdf

If the issue repeats, issue can be with Hardware.

Toshiba Satellite A75-S206 DVD\CD-RW drive problem

Hello GeneMat,

I am Romeet,i will try and help you with this problem.Seems it could be an issue with the Combo DVD Drive's Driver Software or Firmware.

Try This:

From your Desktop:

Right Click " My Computer" Icon and select "Properties"

Go to "Hardware" Tab and select "Device Manager"

Under Device Manager, scroll down to the "DVD/CDROM Drives" menu and click on the plus ( + ) Sign next to it

Right Click the Drive name eg " Toshiba DVD-R TSST 2313" and select " Uninstall" Click yes to any prompts and restart your Laptop.

After rebooting, Windows XP should pick up the drivers again, so wait a while for it to complete and until it notifies you that " Windows successfully completed installing your new hardware" or something to that effect and then try using the software cds again

Best of luck!
