How to remove control panel (plastic trim)

1 Prise out the trim cap and undo the screw securing the exterior mirror inner trim panel of door
2 Where a manually-adjustable exterior mirror is fitted, prise the rubber cover off the adjustment lever, then unscrew and remove the locking collar using pointed-nose pliers.
3 Pull the panel from its location to disengage the retaining clips. Disconnect the loudspeaker wiring connector and remove the panel.
4 Lift off the trim caps, undo the retaining screws, then remove the door interior handle surround.
5 Carefully prise off the loudspeaker grille then undo the three loudspeaker retaining screws. Withdraw the speaker from the door and disconnect the wiring connectors.
6 Undo the three retaining screws in the loudspeaker aperture, and the single screw in the oddments pocket just below the aperture.
7 Lift out the loudspeaker protective cover and withdraw the loudspeaker wiring from the base of the cover.
8 Prise out the trim cap and undo the screw securing the rear of the trim panel to the door frame of Fiat Punto car.
9 Undo the screw at the upper front corner of the panel, and the remaining four screws securing the lower edge of the panel to the door frame.
10 Using a suitable forked tool inserted between the door and the trim panel of Fiat Punto, release the press-stud clips located around the edge of the panel, then lift the trim panel upward.
11 Pull the panel from the door, noting that the lower window aperture weatherstrip is integral with the trim panel and must be released from tie door as the panel is withdrawn.
12 If work is to be carried out on the door internal components, it will be necessary to remove the plastic sealing sheet from the inside of the door. Start at one comer of the sheet and carefully peel it away, using a sharp blade to split the sealant bead, if necessary.
13 Store the detached sealing sheet such that it cannot become contaminated with dust; this will allow it to be re-used later.

Disconnect the negative battery cable from the Jeep Cherokee battery with the 10 mm wrench.

2 Remove the five screws on the top edge of the dash panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

3 Pry the trim panels surrounding the climate control knobs away from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool.

4 Remove the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp switches (located to the left of the steering column) with a trim panel removal tool.

5 Remove the two screws behind the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp controls with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

6 Pull the dash panel that surrounds the stereo and covers the instrument panel of the Cherokee, away from the dashboard by hand.

7 Remove the two screws from the stereo mounting bracket. One screw is on the bottom left corner, the other screw is on the top right corner. Each screw can be removed with the 10 mm socket and drive.

8 Pull the factory stereo from the stereo mounting dock.

9 Disconnect the stereo wiring from the back of the factory unit.

10 Connect the Jeep Cherokee factory stereo wiring to a wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to an aftermarket stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the stereo mounting bracket and replaced two screws at the opposite corners with the 10 mm socket and drive.

11 Replace dash panel that stretches across the top of the steering column.

12 Replace the two screws at the top of the headlamp control switch. Replace the trim panel around the headlamp switch.

13 Replace the trim panel that surrounds the climate control knobs.

14 Replace the five screws on the top edge of the dashboard with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

15 Replace the negative battery cable over the negative battery terminal and tighten the cable to the negative lead post with the 10 mm wrench

door panels have hidden plastic pins that need to be removed with a fork-like flat tool you can get at any auto parts store. In addition, there are screws and bolts usually around the door arm rest (may be hidden by round plugs) and the surround for the door release handle.

Did you find the one inside the door pull cup ?
Remove the push pin rivet on the upper rear edge of the trim panel and the screw at the upper front edge near the mirror.
Remove the trim panel fasteners at the pull cup and lower the rear corner of the trim panel.
Pull up on the door trim panel assembly to disengage the trim panel to door structure attaching hooks and remove the door trim panel.

Pull trim from inside area of mirrors. Remove plastic from around door handles and seat switches. Remove screw from end door clip. Remove bolt from under door handle plastic. Unscrew lock knob. Pop tabs from bottom of door by pulling then lift up and wiggle door. Glass felt may or may not come off with panel.

1. You have to unscrew the 3 screws. 2 at the bottom of the panel. One is located inside the door light just pop the cover off to get to it. One is located at the egde of the door panel where you open the door. One is located at the very bottom of the panel.
2. Once screws have been removed: remove the plastic trim from around the door handle. Just a small plastic piece that snaps in around the door handle.
3. Once thats done just left striaght up. Panel should slide off the plastic clips.

Remove plastic studs from door closer. Unscrew three retaining screws. remove grab.
Unhook window winder retaining clip. Best done with small long-nose pliers. window winder retaining clip located inside plastic winder handle section. Will need to prise away winder handle from door slightly to expose clip. locate and gently pull clip from winder shaft.
unscrew door opener / lock assembly retaining screw.
gently prise lower trim retaining press studs from door. remove lower trim.
gently , from rear of door, pull upper trim from door and similtaniously prise upper trim press studs from door.
gently giggle door opener / lock assembly through upper trim . remove trim
gently with flat blade, peel off plastic dust sheeting.
access to inside off door is now possible.
Reassembly reverse of above

The door panel is held on by plastic clips and 5 screws. 3 screws are on the bottom and 1 in the pull cup and 1 in the inner door handle.Then grab one of the corners and give a small tug, when you get some of the clips to pop out then proceed around the whole panel. To replace the panel take the clips out of the door with a fork and slide them back into the panel and then line it up on the door and use your hand like a hammer and bang the panel back on. Hope this helps

Both above answers are not right... I just replaced the Pass side power mirror assembly on my 97 Expedition. No heat, no directional.
The inside door panel must come off.
1. pry off interior triangular plastic trim piece inside of door at mirror area. Remove door panel screw at this area.
2. Pry off power window switch panel and remove door panel screw at this area.
3.Remove interior door light cover and remove screw at this area.
4. Remove plastic cover at door handle.
5. The interior door panel can now be lifted up to release it from it's fasteners.
6. Disconnect light and push power window switch assembly through the door panel and it can be set aside.
7. Disconnect mirror power at coupler.
8 Loosen three mirror mounting screws with 7/16 socket. DO NOT unscrew completely.. the will fall down the door cavity. Use a round magnet on holder to remove the screws completely.
9.Thread electrical connection into door panel and install mirror.
10. Smile when mirror works and drink a beer!

It's basically a case of taking the door panel off! (This is for driver and passenger sides). Firstly remove the screw holding on the black plastic cover where the mirror adjustment control is and remove the black plastic surround. There is also a circular piece of plastc behind the mirror adjuster, make sure you remove this (turn anticlockwise) otherwise you won't get the mirror out later on! Next remove the screw from the door bin, inside the recess in the arm rest part of the door panel and from behind the door handle surround. Carefully slide the door handle surround off (first towards the front of the car and then towards you). Once the surround is off carefully unclip the speaker wire from the back.

Once you've done all this you are ready to go - the door panel itself is held on by plastic poppers, there are around 2 either side and 3 at the bottom. Carefully unclip all of these so that the panel is loose. Then slide the panel up (there is a plastic fitting at the top of the panel which sits in the gap where the window is). The panel will now come away - be careful not to rip any of the thin foam like lining of the panel and also of the wires going to the speaker.

There are 2 more screws which hold the wing mirror on - unscrew both of these and the wing mirror will now come off. Make sure you keep the sponge padding as you will need this to help you hold the new mirror controls in place. Then its quite simply a case of fixing the mirror on with 2 screws and refitting everything in reverse of taking it off.
