Question about DeLonghi Esclusivo Magnifica ESAM3300 Espresso Machine

Pre ground coffee

I received a delonghi magnifica coffee machine for Christmas and so far we have successfully made coffee using the grinder for the beans. however a red light which I believe is telling me that the ground container is full or absent. please help as we have emptied this container and ran out of beans and I really want COFFEE. thanks simon and aimeee

We just went through the same situation. We opened the top the Magnifica to get to the grinder and removed the four screws to seperate the grinding pieces. Inside we discovered two black fosilized beans/stones! We removed those, cleaned out all the bean dust and it is working like new! Took about an hour.

I think the water level is read by a magnetic pick up driven by a black floater located 3/4 way towards the back of the water tank.
Make sure this floater can move up and down in its pocket: you can see it through the walls so just shake the tank to see it move, and check that it floats up when you fill water

There are two reasons for this usually. Either the grinder is jammed or the grinding wheel or wheels have broken. Your machine needs to go to a repair shop to be looked at.

I have the same problem, it leaks all over the place and makes a mess inside. Initially it just seemed to leak steam but it got worse and worse until now it leaks water badly. I took it apart and it appears to be a small orange silicone seal that's bad. The seal is located on the plunger that compacts the grinds and then forces water through to make the coffee. I took mine completely apart but I think by using a stubby Phillips you could remove the small black cap and replace the O ring easily. The O ring on mine that is torn is about .35" OD and about .15" ID.
To check if this is the problem on yours; turn off the machine and remove the main filter unit by pressing the two red "press to remove clips" and pulling the unit out. It will not come out with the machine powered on. Now look up into the top right hand corner and you''ll see the plunger and heater unit angled towards the center of the machine. There are two small stainless countersunk Phillips screws. Remove these and you should be able to see the small orange silicone O ring in question. Might be a good idea to replace the large one as well as it now pops right off and you can certainly clean around it now, something I was never able to do before. My small orange silicone O ring was torn into two pieces and I'll replace it tomorrow and see if it helps.

This posting is back on the unsolved boards again. I cannot see what anyone else has told you and I don't know what you have tried. So, I'm starting fresh....

If your control panel is not reading that you have inserted the container, then one of several things could be wrong.
I imagine you have already checked and cleaned all the parts involved and made sure that the lids are sealing and the container is seated properly. Clean around the door to be sure it closes securely.

If all of these things are in proper order, then it could be that the control panel has gone bad. Is there a reset button somewhere on your machine? Have you tried to go through the descaling/cleaning procedure and restart the machine?

If none of this works, I would suggest contacting DeLonghi to talk to a technician. Here is a contact page I got from the internet: http://www.delonghiusa.com/index.php?texts&pid=3

You may have already found the contact site, but if all else has been checked and found to be ok, I think that is your only recourse now.

That is the reason the old owners gave it to you . You have to change the circuit board for it and it is as expensive as a new unit plus the labour and shipping .

Have you tried grinding a few cups of uncooked rice through the mechanism to see if this will shift the dried on coffee grounds. It worked for a friend of mine after several attempts

This happened to me when I first used my machine and I had accidentally pressed the button for ground coffee (the button on the front with the coffee spoon pictured) - when I turned this button off it worked perfectly and has done for over a year now.

Can you grind hazelnuts with the coffee in our 3000 magnifica


I would not do this as hazelnuts are oily and will probably gum up the grinder.
What you could do is but a few ground hazelnuts in the pre-gound chute at same time coffee beans are grinding. These will go into brewer unit at same time as coffee.

u need it all set back up///needs grinder tanken out . if lugs are broken u need to put new grinder in....

Delonghi Magnifica 3500.. error message says "grind too fine, adjust grinder, insert water spout, press ok" message never goes away. I called the Customer service.. she said try again.. to...


Try removing the beans from the hopper and use a vacuum to CLEAR/REMOVE any grounds and then adjust the grinder 4 clicks clockwise. If this works Re-adjust grinder to where you get nice crema.

You can try using all ready ground coffee by following the instructions in your manual (if you don't have a manual let me know) to test it.

The machine makes a very loud noise when grinding the coffee beans. * Magnifica Espresson Machine *


Even a properly operating super automatic DeLonghi espresso machine makes enough coffee grinder noise to scare your pets and wake you next door neighbors. It's LOUD, no doubt about it. Only if your grinder makes more noise than that do you have a problem.

My Delonghi Magnifica (manual not digital) won't start the grinder, could this be the circuit board?


Delonghi Magnifica comes up with waste tray full light when there is nothing in the tray. It doesn't make coffee, the grinder is rotating and appears to be clear. Could there be a blockage below the grinder, if so how do I access it.
