SOURCE: DVD PLAYER

I used the suggestions from post 1 and they are sending me a 2007 dvd player and I don't even have to pay shipping. This will at least get you a free replacement that works!

SOURCE: Device display now says "bad" and TV display says "Incorrect disc"

Sounds like the player has a dvd mech/picup problem, will probably require a repair that is more expensive than a new player, they are as low as $30 and personally I dont even try to repair my own, I just go buy a new one. There may have been some dirt on the disc that is blocking the laser if you want to try a cleaning disc I doubt it would hurt it anymore.

SOURCE: dvd player doesn't recognize dvd's of any kind

jusguessin should call Toshiba quickly. The units have a 1 year warranty. Do not open the unit or it will void your warranty (I know, I do Toshiba warranty repairs on their recorders. If anything will make be void a warranty, it's a consumer who opens the unit and pokes around inside).

mooch, clean the laser head. I wish I could refer you to a FAQ because this is about the 10th time today I have written this.

Open the unit. Remove the DVD drive. Take the top off of the DVD drive. Clean the lense with a q-tip with a little windex on it. Work the head up and down gently. Reassemble and test. If problem presists, go buy a new one.

SOURCE: DVD player does not read discs anymore

With some models of DVD player I know you can download a firmware update on your PC, load it to the DVD player and it wil fix some issues.
Finding those sites for download may be difficult though.

Screen says INSERT DISC after I have put the DVD in. What's wrong?

1. Incomplete disc information or scratched disc. This is the main reason for the issue. Before you try anything to examine or fix your DVD player, it's suggested that you make sure the disc you are trying to play is intact and well. If it's the problem of your disc, then trying to fix your DVD player does not help at all. In this case, you can copy the scratched DVD disc and then you may play it on your player machine.
2. The disc is incorrectly formatted. A common DVD disc or Blu-ray disc is formatted in various ways. You can find different DVD or Blu-ray disc types in the market, such as DVD-RW, DVD-R and 4K Blu-ray disc and so on if the disc is not formatted correctly in accordance with the player, then it will not be detected. You can use some software tools to correctly format your DVD disc.
3. The glitch of the DVD laser lens. Most of the DVD "No disc" problems are caused by the glitch of DVD laser lens. The cleaning DVD laser lens is not easy and requires patience and carefulness. You can start out by trying to blow away the dust if that doesn't work, you can try using a DVD cleaning disc.

Why does the DVD player say " incorrect disc" inserted?

Try MEMOREX DVD+R or DVD+RW, I have had good luck with them. They are 4.7 GB also. It will also depend on the age of your dvd player too. My KOSS dvd player was 5 years old and would not read the disc from my computer.

I have a Toshiba DVD player SD K741. For the past few days, when I load the dvd, I receive a message on my TV screen "Incorrect Disc." What can I do to correct this?

incorrect disk error are common with the user putting in a disc that is not compatible with the player, in most cases it would have been a RW, that was written incorrectly. If this is not the case and it is a original disc you might want to purchase a cleaning dvd witch goes in and cleans the lens.

If that does not work then the unit's lens might be defective at this point.

1. Try other disc
2. try a cleaning disc

If those do not work then the issue is with the lens.

DVD PLAYER

Hi Koji, My Toshiba DVD player does the same. It stops playing the disc, and the icon for incorrect disc displays. Often I cannot even start a movie. I keep getting BAD on the readout display also. I try hitting the player, or the stand in which the player is sitting, and sometimes it goes away and the movie plays. I will never buy Toshiba again.
