What operating system are you using? Is you camera connected via USB? Have you tried using another USB port? Did you make sure to install the software before plugging in your camera?
Generally if you are running Windows 98, you will need to reboot after installing the software to even have a chance of the camera being recognized correctly.
If you are running Windows 2000, XP or
Vista, the camera should be recognized and a driver installed or searched for from the CD software you installed before plugging in the camera.
Sometimes if you plug in the camera first without installing the software, the PC finds a new device with no driver. You can see this by going to Control Panel -> System ->
Hardware -> Device Manager and you should see and exclamation on a device in the list. You need to remove this item and reboot your PC.
Now install the software first and when the install is done, then plug in your camera. Generally this works out pretty well.
