Thick black line printing on the back of every page

Whenever I try to print anything on my Canon MP530, a thick black line prints on the back of each page. I read that this can be fixed by replacing the waste ink reservoir pad - is this something I can do myself? If so, where is it located and where is the best place to find a replacement pad.
