No picture - red stays on, green light clicking on and off

Seems I share this problem with hundreds of Loewe HD owners. Is there anyone that can give me the exact part I need and recommend a technician that will do a home visit? I live in a NYC apartment, and my 220-lb. Loewe, 38" HDTV won't be making a roadtrip anytime soon.

Also, have people had success with this repair? I bought the TV for $5500 (with tax) in 2002. I understand repairs can range anywhere from $100 - 600. When do I throw in the towel and just by a new TV. As all owners know, it's a beautiful picture.

Thanks for all/and any relevant help, Beth

Could be loss of voltage on secondary or problem on Power supply. Check 4/5 (depnding on chassis) wickman fuses on secondary if none are o/c then replace power supply components with Kit from Loewe. Part number 90415.900.

Should take tv engineer about 1 hour (max) to replace parts form kit.

Our CAL232 TV will not turn on. When pressing the power button, you can see a red light and a green light, but the screen doesn't start up as normal. The TV then tries again after about 20 seconds, but...

Hello,

My LOEWE CAL 232 will not power up. When the power button is pressed, the monitor turns on, with the LOEWE on the monitor, then the TV continues with the previous activity (antenna, DVD, VCR etc.). Now all that happens is

1. the red light comes on

2.after about 1 second the green light turns on for about 12 seconds

3. the the green light turns off for about 1 second

4. then the green light turns on again for about 12 seconds

and this continues until the power button is pressed to turn the TV off. During this time, the monitor does not turn on and the only sound I hear seems to eminate from the power button.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if my problem is exactly the same? I turn the set on from the remote and it turns on then turns off. It will not stay on even when I use the power button on the TV. It just will not stay on.

I know a lot about these sets---I did warranty work on them when they were new and later---Set was designed in Germany and the company based in England---for a while the parts were very hard to get---but the last time I fixed one there was a Parts center here in the USA.

Set is basically modular in design--meaning if the problem cannot be traced down and found you can buy from the USA SOURCE a replacement board.

Answer a few questions and I will try to help you.

1.) Before the set failed did the picture fill the entire screen from right to left and top to bottom?

2.) When it shuts off does the power light stay green or go to red? (standby).

3.) Does the set make any unusual sound or have a burning smell?

THERE IS ONE VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS SET--THERE ARE ABOUT 8 CERAMIC CAPS ON THE "MAIN" board----One of them opens (does not short!)

This cap is almost in the middle of a group of brown caps (the larger ones never fail--it is fairly small) I think I still have some new ones here--if you need I can look for them and tell you what markings id the cap you are looking for.

Someone has to unsolder each cap from the board and check them with a cap meter---if they find one open---this is the problem.

My Loewe Television displays red/green when attempting to switch

My problem turned out to be the primary power supply. I had a Loewe tech guy fix it, and it cost $187.00 (Australian) for parts and labour.
