SOURCE: Hi I have a LG MG 583MC microwave,
We have a sound clip of
what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high
voltage section are operating here.
If it's quieter than usual, it's probably a control issue, such as a bad door switch or mount, or a problem on the control circuit board.
If it's louder than usual or sounds the same, it's probably a fault in the high voltage section, such as the magnetron, transformer or diode.
Unless it is a convection type or is otherwise special, the average over the counter microwave is generally not economical to repair when high voltage parts or servicer help is needed.
