Question about StarTech.com StarView SV211K 2-port KVM Switch

1 Answer

Starview Sv211k 2 port KVM

I have two laptops plugged into my kvm switch.  When I click on something on my desktop, windows explorer, email, ect with my mouse it will stay highlighted, and when I click on something above it or below it will highlight everything inbetween, like the shift key is held down on the keyboard.  It does it on both computers, but never at the same time.  One computer is a Compaq nc6320, and the other is a Panasonic CF-48.  If I disconnect everything and reboot, it will stop for a little bit, but it always starts doing it again.

You have activated "sticky keys" functionality within Windows.
It is a feature designed for physically-challenged people,
who do not have the coordination to press multiple keys at the same time. So, for example, instead of holding CTRL-ALT-DELETE, the person can press CTRL, then press ALT, then press DELETE.

So, your "click" becomes a "SHIFT-click", thus highlighting everything between your previous click and your current click.

Restart each computer, and disable "sticky-keys" on each computer.

Euromax code box for virgin midia

Check that you are getting power to your StarView SV211K 2-port KVM switch. Try disconnecting the power, and then reconnect it, to "reset" the KVM. Check all the cables from port #1 on the KVM to computer #1. Check all the cables from port #2 on the KVM to computer #2.
Check all the cables from your Keyboard/Video/Mouse to the KVM.

If you still have a problem, disconnect everything from the KVM,
and connect the Keyboard/Video/Mouse directly to computer #1,
to ensure that it works *without* involving the KVM.
