Drive not recognized means there is usually a problem with the drive, if not a driver or formatting issue. Has this ever worked in the computer before?
Try the drive on another computer. If it is recognized there, you might be looking at a larger issue on your Mac. If it doesn't, the GoFlex's drive or boards may have failed.

maybe you need to reinstall usb drivers. did you check device manager to see if any conflicts exist?
if you need help doing this please reply. good luck
Windows 7 probably don't recognize it. keep an eye out for it at the manufactor website, for a driver. Windows 7 is turning out to be like windows vista
Right click My Computer, Properties, then click on Device Manager. Select Disk Drives then on tab menu Action, Add legacy hardware. Go through the setup and use CD's that came with Hard Drive otherwise search company site for drivers.
Did you have to install a driver for it initially? Try reinstalling the driver, if so.
I thought most drives were plug and play. If it does not have a driver, trying using a different USB port. Sometimes the ports can freak out and not recognize the item plugged in, especially if you use multiple items in the same port. (ie, cameras, cell phones, printers, etc)
