SOURCE: hi,just bought a 4gb sd card for my digimax s600

Does your camera support SD HC? Anything above a 2gb SD card is concider a HC; so if your camera can't support HC format then you can not use that card.

SOURCE: I bought a 4GB Memory Card for my Samsung Digimax

Your problem is that your camera only takes standard SD cards up to a maximum of 2GB. The card you have bought is likely to be a 4GB SDHC model. SDHC is a later development of SD; SDHC compliant devices can still use older SD cards, but SD-only devices cannot use SDHC. This is a hardware limitation so there is no way at all to use an SDHC card in your camera.

Note that if your 4GB card is definitely an SD and not an SDHC then it's still incompatible with your camera: very few standard SD devices were ever made with the firmware and hardware to handle the different memory addressing architecture used by the larger capacity card. Some cameras did have firmware updates to allow the larger SD card to be used, but yours is not one of them.

Your only fix is to sell your card (or keep it for another device) and to buy a regular SD card no larger than 2GB maximum capacity.

I trust that my reply has answered your question fully, please take a moment to rate my answer.

SOURCE: comes up with format then check sd card

I've had this problem too.
Your Samsung Digimax L80 accepts SD Card cards. The largest SD Card card you can use in your Samsung Digimax L80 is 2GB anything larger and it doesn't work.

Are you sure your camer supports 8 Mb? Check your manual. If you don't have one, download it:

If it is supposet to support 8Gb SC cards, get a microSD card USB reader and insert it in the computer. Can you ree it as Remvoabvle disk?
It the computer won'r recognize your card, it is BAD.
If you can see it, try to format it to FAT32
Again, if can't, card is BAD

All I want to do is: Format an SD card to Faat 16. Please help.

I hope I can help!
This should should not be to difficult, but let me know if any of my instructions are unclear or need specification!
1. Make sure the SD card is not physically locked. If you look on the side of the SD card, there should be a little movable tab and the word "lock" (or something like that). Make sure the tab is moved in unlocked position. As long as you can put data on or take data off, it is unlocked.
2. Open "My computer"
3. Right click on your device
4. Click "Format"
5. You can select "Fat default" from the menu if that is what you want. This is FAT 16, if that is what you are looking for.
6. You can select "quick format" if you want. It will not make too much difference either way.
7. Hit "ok," and this should take a minute.
That should do it! Comment if you need additional instruction!

I hope that helps!

In my Nokia 5130c-2 mobile I've a 8GB Micro SD memory card. When I try to enter into Memory Card it tells Unknown File Format in Memory Card. Format Memory Card Yes/No? Every thing was going fine...

Put the SD card in a stand alone card reader, and copy the data off it to your computer. Next, format the SD card, and put it back in your phone.
