Phone book names are not always appearing when receiving calls

Check may be you have saved names on phone aswell as sim.

So delete some name in "sim" memory and check.

  • On the Home screen, click Address Book.
  • Open the menu and select SIM Phone Book.
  • To delete an entry, highlight it, open the menu, and select Delete.
  • When the Delete Phone Book Entry? message box appears, click Delete.

I have a nokia n95-1. I have copied sim contacts to the phone which have duplicated when I synchronised with Outlook. I can cope with that. What I dont understand is why the numbers of any of my contacts...

When you receive a phone call, the phone will look up in it's address book to see if it can find a match for that number, if there is only one match, great, it will display it, if there is more than one match, it would be difficult for the phone to 'guess' at who is calling, so instead it just displays the number.

First make sure you do not have duplicate Entries for the same number.
I would suggest you to do the following:
  1. Make sure you have copied all the contacts from your SIM to Phone
  2. Delete all the Entries from your SIM by selecting them at once
  3. Make sure you do not have any Duplicate Entry in the phone book
  4. If you suspect having duplicate entries, Sync. the phone with Outlook and search for Duplicate entries to delete them

Please make sure you have selected the default memory as SIM and Phone. If you have stored your contacts in the Address book of your Phone memory and selected the Sim card memory as the default phone book it is obvious that when receiving a call your phone will try to look for that number in the default memory selected by you or vise-versa.
Go to phonebook > Settings > and select the memory in use as Phone and SIM

Hope it is not confusing

Please get back for any clarification

UNIDEN TRU8888-CALLER ID DOES NOT WORK

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. I think you have stored more than 100 Caller ID messages and hence the caller ID is not showing on Uniden Tru8888. In the following cases the caller ID will not be shown-

If you answer a call before the Caller ID message is received (for example, before the second ring), the Caller ID message will not appear.

When the call is received via a telephone company that does not offer Caller ID service, the caller’s phone number and name does not appear. (This includes some international calls.)

When the call is via a private branch exchange (PBX), the caller's phone number and name may not appear.

You may receive any one of the following messages:

When a private name is received; Private Name
When a private number is received; Private Number
When a unknown name is received; Unknown Name
When a unknown number is received; Unknown Number
When invalid data is received; Incomplete Data

The Caller ID list stores information for incoming calls - even unanswered calls. You can store up to 100 Caller ID messages and phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) for each handset and the base. You can view the Caller ID list through the handset or base during a call or when the phone is in standby mode.

Memory locations for Caller ID messages and Phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) are common, you can store up to all 100 entries for each handset and the base. Caller ID messages are not stored when you have 100 phonebook entries. When you have stored a total of 100 phonebook entries and Caller ID messages, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Is there any way to make the persons name appear for a text

It should be as simple as adding their name and number to the address book on the phone.

Make sure to list the number under the Mobile Phone line.

While in the address book, there is usually a line that says "New Entry" or "Add number" etc...(without the type of phone I cant get specific).

Another method is to into the text message itself and do an options click (again without the phone cant be specific) and there should be an option to add the number to the address book.

Need to add employee e-mail address to xerox 440st so we don't have to type it in each tme

NOTE: Accessing the Public Address Book is optional. The Document Centre will accept a Public Address Book file that contains a list of user names and their E-mail addresses. This file must be Comma Separated Values (CSV) format for the device to be able to read the file contents. The majority of word processing packages will allow you to create a CSV file. A selection of e-mail applications will also allow you to export a list of users in the CSV file format.

The completed CSV file is imported to the device through CentreWare Internet Services. The file must have the .CSV file extension. A valid CSV file format includes the name and SMTP e-mail address. The CSV file should be created so that the Names are in one column and the E-mail addresses are in the next column. For example, the following are both valid format CSV file entries:

Smith, [email protected]
Smith, John - [email protected]

The order in which entries are displayed in the Public Address Book at the Document Centre will depend on how the entries are sorted in the CSV file.

NOTE: This solution assumes Microsoft Internet Explorer is being used as the web browser. Other web browsers may vary. You may need to contact your System Administrator to perform this solution, as it requires knowledge of the network’s email system. Configuration of the LDAP directory settings requires the network to support LDAP Services.

The Document Centre will have to be configured for TCP/IP (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Broadcast Address, Gateway Address). Before you begin, print a Configuration Report and make sure the Document Centre has an IP address and the HTTP protocol is enabled.

From the workstation desktop:
  1. Click on [Start], point to [Programs], and select [Internet Explorer] to launch Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on [File] from the toolbar, then select [Open]. The Open window will be displayed.
  3. Enter the IP address for the Document Centre in the Address: field, then press [Enter] on your keyboard. CentreWare Internet Services window will be displayed.
  4. Click on [Index] in the upper, right corner of Internet Services. The Index window will be displayed with a list of hyperlinks to different areas of Internet Services.
  5. Click on [Public Address Book ] from the list of hyperlinks. The Public Address Book Settings window will be displayed.
  6. Click [Browse]. The Choose File window will be displayed.
  7. Browse to the location of your Address Book File (*.CSV).
  8. Highlight the CSV file and click on [Open]. The path for your .CSV file will be displayed in the Address Book File (*.CSV) field.
  9. Click on [Import Now]. An 'Are you sure you want to overwrite the existing Address Book? This cannot be undone' message may be displayed. Click [OK] to import the address book.

NOTE: You cannot import a .CSV file with a blank name or e-mail field.

  10. An Enter Network Password window may be displayed. In the User Name: field, enter the system login of admin, in lower case letters. In the Password: field, enter the system password, then click [OK].

NOTE: If you do not know the system password, contact your administrator. The initial system password at machine install is 1111 for the Document Centre 460|470|480|490, and 22222 for the Document Centre 425|430|432|440. If the administrator encounters a problem with changing or forgetting the machine password, a service call must be placed.

  11. Click on [Map Existing Address Book] to identify which headings in the CSV file contain the name and e-mail address to use in the Public Address Book.

NOTE: If the CSV file contains names and e-mail addresses only, the file may map automatically.

  12. Click on the [Display Name] drop-down menu under the Imported heading. Select the heading that corresponds to the data you wish to use as the display name in the address book. The data you selected will be displayed in the Imported Sample field.
  13. Click on the [E-mail Address] drop-down menu. Select the heading that corresponds to the data you wish to use as the e-mail address in the address book. The data you selected will be displayed in the Imported Sample field.

NOTE: If you are using a DC460|470|480|490, and if the CSV file does not contain a heading row, the drop-down menu will contain information from the first line of data in the file. For correct Public Address operation, the display name must map to a user name and the e-mail address must map to an SMTP format e-mail address, for example, [email protected].

If you are using a DC425|430|432|440 and if your CSV file does not contain a heading row, the first row of data will be lost.

  14. Click on [Apply New Settings] to save any changes.

NOTE: If you click on the [Clear All Addresses] button all entries will be removed from the current public address book.

  15. Click on the [X] in the upper, right corner to close Internet Explorer and return to the desktop.

Cell phone

try this. The menu names may vary depending on the model or even service provider. look for a simmilarly meaning menu name

For missed calls, made calls or received calls
Go to
menu, call history, erase History, then click on whichever option you want to clear it. you can also clear all.

if you only want to erase just one entry go to call history, go to the category you want(missed, outgoing, incoming) then scroll to your particular one and click options, erase

Assuming you want to erase the recipients of txt messages, go as if you want to send a text(menu, messaging, send message, text message.) then on recent list, scroll and select your desired entry and press options, erase

Good luck

Phone not ringing from certain numbers

On many phones, and this sounds like one, you can assign entries in your phone book to different groups (e.g. friends, family, work, etc) - and then set the phone's ringtone (and other behaviours) depending on which group the caller's number has been assigned to. A starting point might be to investigate whether all the numbers which display this odd behaviour seem to come from the same group. If they do, then you need to have a good look at all the settings for that particular group. A.
