SOURCE: recording

most vcr's dvd's and recorders have to have the remote..if you have cable or satellite, you can program that remote to run your other equipment under aux. or you can buy a inexpensive universal remote that can be programed to run your equipment.

Will universal remote control work for JVC Pro-Cision 19u Model No. HR - VP670U

The IR commands are pretty universal across most JVC VHS decks. So if that exact model isn't listed, they'll be another that's close enough in the range of functions that you have all the basics covered.

Lost manual. Cannot get HR A591U JVC VCR program to record a future cable tv program. Seems I have tried everything but it does not record as I set up. It will record an existing show by pressing...

Timer Recording JVC VCR HR A591U
Timer recording can be programmed on-screen with
the remote control. The built-in timer allows automatic
unattended recording of up to 8 programs within 1
month.

EXAMPLE: Program a timer recording for the 26th day,
channel 125 (CATV), 11:00 - 11:30 PM on timer program
number 1 (Tape speed: EP).

When a TV is connected with an audio/video cable, turn the
TV and this VCR on and select the video input mode on the
TV.

• After timer recording is completed, the VCR turns off
automatically.
• You can program the timer recording while a regular
recording is in progress; the menu screens will not be
recorded.
• The timer recording will start at 20 seconds before the time
you predetermined.

Press MENU on the Remote.
Check the “TIMER REC SET”
option is selected, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select one of
the program lines, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select the
date, then press ENTER.

Set the start time, end time,
channel and tape speed as in
step 3.
NOTE: To record from external
source, press SET –/+
and set the channel to
"L". "L" will appear next
to CH 125 (or 69).

To enter other programs,
repeat step 2 through 4. Or,
press MENU twice to return
to the normal screen.

Press TIMER on the Remote.
The power will go off, the
TIMER REC indicator ( ) will
light and the VCR stands by
for recording.

To cancel a program:

Press the SET –/+ to select the
“TIMER REC SET” option in the
MENU. Then press SET –/+ to
select the unnecessary program,
and press CANCEL to cancel the
program.

My jvc has developed a tracking problem when viewing tapes recorded on other recorders. I cant seem to correct the problem. It shows old tapes without a problem

VCR tracking has to be set up right, but even then many machines have problems with tracking other vcr's tapes. Generally a good quality commercial tape should track well. If it doesn't then either there's a fault with the tracking on your machine or the tracking is not set up right. Most tracking problems are caused by dirt, or wear on the heads or surfaces. Give your VCR a good clean up, every surface the tape comes into contact with, using Servisol Video 40. If that doesn't solve it you might have to look into the cost of replacing heads, maybe the control/audio head first. Or you should look at having the tracking set up by a proffessional (at a JVC service center). However if the tracking was off, after resetting any tapes the machine has done, may now have problems tracking, whilst other machines tapes and commercial will track normal.

I just got a JVC HR-S3500, The online manual only gives timed recording instructions for the number code on a program listing. I need to know how to record by time and channel. This was simple with my...

To program the recording by time and channel, press Prog then press Start +/- (the left-most +/- button below the number pads). You should see the time and channel blanks. Continue pressing the Start +/- button until you get to the desired start time. If you press and hold the Start +/- button, the time will advance by 30 minutes. To set the Stop time, press the next button to the right (the Stop +/- button) until you reach the desired end time. Use the next toggle button (to the right) to set the Date for the recording. Use the Channel +/- button (the right-most button in the row) to set the channel to record. Set the tape speed with the SP/EP button below the Date toggle. Then press Prog or OK to save the recording. This is in the manual under Express Timer Recording which starts on page 42 of the manual. I found the manual here: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/99/LPT0024-001B.pdf .

I hope this helps.

VCR not timer recording, VCR will not turn on with timer

If no menu, unplug, and let it set a few minutes. Replug and the on-screen menu should appear. Reset the set-up (date, etc). I had the same experience as one of the other posters with JVC customer service telling me the menu button on the remote was malfunctioning, and I should purchase a new remote from them.
After you input your programming, be sure to hit the Timer button on your remote. If you want to change tapes or playback, you will need to hit the Timer button again (take it off Timer) for access to your VCR. Be sure to reset it to Timer afterwards, or you will not be able to record.

VCR won't record at a set time

Check that the clock on the machine is set to the correct time and date. Check am/pm.

This problem is usually caused by incorrect time & date.
