SOURCE: Bra wire trapped in drain of washing machine noisy when drum rotates. How can I get it out?

Fishing line was looped through the larger holes in the back of the drum with a lassoo on the end of it & hooked round the wire then drawn out. A very time-consuming procedure in a confined space with a fine bendy light to illuminate the part.

Dryer only hums when turned on. The drum does not rotate, but the belt is intact.

Hi there. Sounds like it is a dead motor. Check it by measuring the terminals on the motor when you hear the humming sound. If it reads 110VAC on the meter the motor is dead or seized. Might also be the drum that is jammed. Check the drum holes for a screw or something that locks it?

Wash machine model mav 7600, started making tremendous noise, first in spin cycle only and then in wash cycle also. After running a few loads with the noise the machine just stoped running....

This sounds like collapsed/broken drum bearings. Check for movement between inner and outer drum. Also rotating the drum by hand will be hard (or immpossible), and noisy. It could be the motor and belt, but most times it is bearings.

My maytag model no.mav4755aww makes a whinning sound at the beginning of the spin cycle

Hi
Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.Since you hear whining it means that the bearing is damaged and the seals on bearing are gone too so it rotates without lubricant. It might be possible to hear whining while you rotate empty drum manually...
Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.
Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing. Then replacing the bearing is suggested.

Maytag pyet244ayw---the dryer would not turn off.it had to be manually shut off. now, it turned off during a drying cycle. i can hear a whining sound when i tried to restart it.

Could be the belt.
Disconnect power.
Using a putty knife, slide it under the top and front panel of the dryer. There is one clip near each front corner. Pull up on the top panel while depressing the clips.
With the top up, you can see the drum and the belt should be around it and tight. You should be able to rotate the drum with your hand with some resistance. If the belt is not present then it is probably broken and under the drum. If this is the case, the whining you hear is the motor turning under no load.
Please post if this is the problem or if other to assist others with a siimular problem.

High pitch whine when start button is pushed. Tumbler not moving

The high pitch sound you describe sounds to me like the motor is running but the drum is not spinning.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
First you will need to unplug your dryer from the electric.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
While you have the drum out, I would also recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

Condensing tumble dryer not running

has the belt shredded and wrapped itself around the shaft? try to manually rotate the drum to see if the belt is free and the motor shaft moves. it sounds like the motor is stuck and the smell is the uncirculated heat at the back. let me know your results.
taking the lid off will gain access.

Wm noisy

drum bearings, check and investigate, remove drive belt and then rotate, if still noisy then yes its the drum bearings, if the noise stops when the belt removed the motor bearings are faulty costly repair on most models, sorry oh there is also the possibility there is something lodged within the drum cavity between the lining and the drum casing
