While reading a message my Xperia shut down and the screen went black but was back lit I tried charging the phone for hours used the red shut down button tried turning it back on it vibrates and turns on you can ring my phone. But there is no sound no screen it is all blank and the charging light under the speaker flashes red whenever I try to do anything

My only advice is for you to get a service manual. The link I am inclosing has your manual for 10.99 and they provide unlimited free support. If you contact them and request that they email it to you, they will. Thats about your only recourse unless you have a tech come in cause of the complexity of your set. You will need a service manual. Heres the link.

The red light should be blinking a code. For example it will blink 4 times pause then 4 times pause or 5times pause 5 times pause, whatever the error might be. Let me know what it is and then we can help more.

Be sure its blinking 5 times, count after it cycles the first time through the red lights. If it is fact 5 times, that is a lamp driver error.More likely it cycled 4 times, which is common on this model, if that's the case, then it's the fan. Most likely the large one in the rear...It's an easy fix, just pull the back off and replace the part.

Thats the error for lamp driver error. Which means the Ballast is most likely defective. You can get the replacement ballast for your model at the following link which comes with installation instructions.
