Question about Sewing Machines

419s I was giving a sewing machine, Janome 419S is how it is labeled. I do not know how to start the thread or where to start. My grandmother can not find the manual and I have a minimal knowledge of sewing. Where do I need to start?

I am having the problem of trying to find an owner's manual online for a Janome 419S sewing machine. Every site that I have tried has failed to produce the desired manual. Even the site where a lady lacking a manual did not give me the wanted manual. Where can I go to find one ?

    Thank you,

I'm happy to say I found your manual here which includes the threading guide.

I have a Janome 419S machine. it snarls as soon as I put the needle into the bobbin--breaks the top thread it does not matter what fabric I am sewing with.

increase top thread tension so that it pulls the bottom thread up and stops it looping around the bobbin carrier

I do not know how to rethread my Janome overlocker

look on you tube as there is a guide video. Once you have it threaded, tie the new thread to the old one and pull it through so you don't have to start again. You can even sew slowly and ease the know through the guides.
overlockers are fussy about start position of tail of thread, so hold it correctly when you start

Janome 9000

I have a Janome 9000, was sewing and broke needle, replaced and broke another. I didn't have machine threaded, took out bobbin and would sew a little and stop saying thread broke. I took off top plate and started machine again, sew a little and stop saying thread broke. So I took out bobbin case and sewed again and stopped repeating the message. Everything looks OK, bobbin case and top plate. I guess I want to know if the timing could be off or do you think it is the computer part of the machine...Should I take it to the Sewing Machine Shop??
