I put a SDHC memory card in it and it said to format it.

The Z760 works with MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work.

New memory card dose not work. Keeps saying formatting. Its called SDHC memory card multi use.

Your problem is it's an SD"High Capacity" (SDHC). This type of card came out after camera was designed, and although it looks the same as a standard SD card, its not. Sorry, but there's no way to make that type of card work with your camera. But just go on Amazon, You can purchase a standard 2GB that will work with your camera for about $6 to $7 (total with shipping).
For others reading this with similar problems, there are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

I just put in a new SD card in Kodak Z760, but it needs to be formatted. How do you format the card?

There is a function to format memory cards somewhere in the camera's setup menus, but this might not be the problem. Most cards come pre-formatted. If this card is more than 1GB it will be SDHC instead of SD. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

There is no reason not to try formatting the card, but if it won't format or isn't usable after formatting, then it may be incompatible.

Memory card will not format in Kodak Z760

Hi There

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

My Kodak Z760 Camera will not format your 4gb SDHC card. Kodak says the Z760 can use anSDHC card.

Be shure that the tiny "Lock" switch on the side of the card is not in the locked position.

I bought an SD card on sale to find that it was manufactured poorly and the lock switch would push into the locked position when I inserted it.

    Manufacturing defects are not uncommon.
Also be shure you have sufficient battery power.
That's all I know about that.

    Cheers,
    Richard.
